Crank pulley torque setting

Post by 1_eyed_jim »

Evening

Haynes states 315nm for 3 groove type! Is this a misprint?! My torque wrench only goes to 210nm and not got a few hundred quid spare at the minute for a larger one. I'm Currently only using 1 groove. Can I set it to 60nm as per single groove in the Haynes?

Thanks

I have the same situation.. and tightened it as much as I could with a breaker bar not a torque wrench

no issues in seven years

Thanks. I had to use a metre 1/2" breaker bar on my back with both hands and my feet on the chassis! It was a right battle! So I guess I'll do the same in reverse and hope it's as good as yours pal :ok

Kev is right. After all, if you ever have to remove nut you can normally shift it with a spanner/adjustable and a short sharp shock to the other end, so it needs to be done up tight but not so tight you need to get the neighbours in. I did mine up the same way, tight as I could by hand then a quick whack with the hammer to wind it on a tadge more.
