South African t25 clutch 2.6i

Post by dugwiththevwbug »

Hi all I have a customers South African 95 plate 2.6i t25 in and need to source a clutch.
Clutch measures 240mm and was a LUK replacement clutch kit which is not specifically listed on their site
problem is as with a lot of sa parts nos they don't cross reference with vw Europe
Can any one help I am a guessing perhaps its a passat clutch but need to know for sure

And has anyone had luck with exhausts or do we need a bespoke ss system
Kind regards in advance doug at Dougs vw werks

VW Parts No's are:
Cover BCY141117
Plate 22S141031A
Bearing 088141165A

The plate and cover do not cross reference to anything else. The bearing shows as used on the Audi 100 '77 - '79.

Hopefully Ian (Silverbullet) will be along shortly as he is the 2.6 whizkid.

Thank you Brian! Well, I'd like to know what fits as mine is probably getting a bit high-mileage by now...

I have a feeling that either the cover or plate is ur-quattro, but don't know any more than that :(

If the clutch is out then maybe a pic or two could be circulated via Audi forums? My money would be on something like an Audi 90 or early GT coupe.

Hope this is of use to you.

Not looking good, as per. I d/l the Sachs catalogue (part of ZF) and vitually all clutch kit part # begin with 3000...

240mm clutch can have 23 or 24 spline input shaft. What have you got there Dug?

Not sure how much help this will be, given that mine is 2.5. However, perusing my history file, I find that my clutch was replaced in 2006 using LUK 624083900. A quick Google shows this on Ebay for £160 for fitment to a 2.1 Quattro.

Is the 2.6 the same, or is the 2.5 still the superior vehicle? :rofl

Autopartoo says:

A.P. KT6461
AUDI 035141117D
BORG &...HK6905
KAWE 954151
LuK 500016910
UNIPART GCK999AF
VW 113141165B

Who's in the mood for some cross-referencing?

Seems to be the A6 2.5 TDi clutch going by the Borg&Beck number. 240mm, 23 spline...given that the AAT/AEL bottom end is what's used in the 2.6i anyway it sounds about right.

Thank you very much gentlemen I've managed to order the luk clutch kit from Gsf with Brian's part number for the Quattro
I will update when fitted just in case of spline issues fingers crossed all will be good.
Next job in the coming months will be to source an exhaust system or make a stainless one myself once I've mastered my tig plant.
Once again many thanks
Doug :ok

It has arrived. Got a bit worried because even though the cover is identical, the friction hub is a slightly different design with a protruding spigot on the flywheel side.
Image
Having offered it up to the flywheel, it clears the bolts ok so no problems after all. The release bearing looks familiar too.
Discovered that these are rated at 240Nm, but Sachs do a HD version that is good for 520!!!
Think that the 094 might just have gone *pop* by then...
