Engine knocking

Post by Dstan0710 »

Hi guys just wondering if anyone can give me any pointers to start with on an engine noise I’m getting.
It sounds like right hand side of engine somewhere and it’s a loud knocking sound that speeds up and slows down with revs. It much louder when cold but still very audible when the engine has been running a while. It’s more or a loud tapping sound. Nothing started difference in power

It could be tappet bleed down. Take the van for a two or three mile run. The noise should disappear if it is bleed down.

If the vans been sat for a week or more a tappets bled down as Rob said, take it for a drive. If you use it all the time and its doing it, might be worth checking the valve adjusters to make sure one isnt damaged/backed off or not adjusted right.
