Neil, apologies from Sharon, She got way laid with other things. (PS windows are on the way with Andy Mc)

Now, Ferry we're sort of thinking ferry out of here Weds morn, haul up somewhere on weds evening (don't know where yet) and then poodle onto Mammut park for afternoon arrival on Thurs.

We're planning on taking the blue syncro for this weekend, helps out on the price of hotels etc.
Not sure about the return yet, but probaly leave Mon for the leg home.

Anybody up for the convoy? We're going to book next week. (Be nice to see a group photo on the ferry)

I can do 7 days - Wed 28th April to Wed 5th May. Currently price for 2 peeps + Syncro travelling by Norfolk Lines Dover to Dunkirk return, 12noon departure both ways, is £34!

My Syncro 16 poptop with rear wheel carrier and tow bar has dimensions of H2.2m and L4.8m, so it come in fairly cheap. Glad I don't have a high top, price is £144!

Will be doing the Bristol to Dover 200 miles super early on Wed to get there in good time.

I'll join the convoy out Pete and Neil and maybe start one of my own for the return trip.
Patrick.

So looking at the times of sailing. Norfolkline go out every 2 hours, it's a 2 hour crossing and european time is 1 hour ahead. So, the earlier the better. An 8am crossing gets you in for 11am, which would mean the roads would be quieter and that would get you approx west side of Essen/Dortmund (which is really busy) for an afternoon stop and rest up.
Plus it would be just about getting dark by 5pmish. Then that would be a good 1/2 wayish point.
TBF Essen and Dortmund with a convoy should be travelled in the light especially in convoy just because the sheer amount of traffic that is around that area.
We are looking at an 8am sail out and a return on the Tues for 6pm ish (avoids that nasty congestion on the London motorways home). Well that's what we're booking anyway.
On a note for the travellers coming from further 'up north' there is a services slightly north of the channel tunnel entrance that will provide an overnight stop over. Not sure on facilities but spyed it the other week when we did a run over the water.

Right booked. Out from Dover on Norfolkline and arrive at Dunkirk.
8am sail out on the weds
6pm return on the Tues
Total price £41
Breakdown : £34 return crossing, £6 fuel surcharge (buggers always get their bit!), £1 for paying on maestro.
We're going to drive down on the Tues evening aswell and haul up at the services. It is a 3 hour drive at the best to get to Dover from here and always best to have Sharon in an awake mode (she does the UK driving and european navigating).

And then there is breakdown recovery for European travel. The one we have is included with the insurance we get from Glynwoods. It's a proper repat policy not the ADAC, take you to the nearest garage job and leave you there.
