Ralph, expecting that DVD to pop onto the doormat any day now... looking forward to some more inspiration, I need it...

Arctic White - I ended up having to look for swatches in the DIY stores and holding them up to the van..
The best match I could find was a Dulux code on one of their cards by the tinting machine the card number was FN8 code on it 10BB83/020 Clouded Pearl number 3.
Time will tell how good the match is..
Ordered the paint today, thanks again, got a 10% discount, also got the DVD which is brilliant, I'll be "HAVIN IT" soon Just need this rain to bxgger off so I can finish the prep. Though was amused when we arrived in one of our favourite west Wales towns to have a local shout across the road "Just come back from Beruit mate?!"

Thank you Pete. Its rather crammed with bullet points and observations (lot on this DVD) but we've tried to make it fun too. Glad you like it.

Just paint when its cool and if you're unsure, mask off a section between seam lines and see how you go.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I'm practicing on an old door, i've been getting millions of tiny air bubbles, but most seem to be going?

I'm flating back with 600 wet n dry, in soapy water.

i've done a few layers, and now its flatted back, I cant seem to get it glossy/shiny for the life of me! What am I doing wrong? Whats should i be polishing with?

You'll only get air bubbles in first minute or so and gentle pressure of the roller over them will see them off. After that you should be fine. Make sure you're not mixing too thick or painting on too hot a day as you'll need more thinners if you do. Flatting back should be after around 4 weeks, not before or you'll make no impression at all. This is all on the DVD by the way.

quick question for those who have done a colour change how did they paint around the door jams etc and the fiddley bits ??

Good question. Sponge brushes are about right for that job. I actually painted the inside of a door parked outside a school waiting for my lad to come out! Do them as and when basically. I wish we'd had more time to cover sponge brush work on the DVD but basically its the same mix anyway. Don't forget to rough up the existing paint first though.

Never bothered. Only painted areas where you would notice the colour change from the outside with everything closed

For anyone who's interested I found these to be pretty cheap for sanding sheets (I'm using a detail sander - don't bother trying a belt sander! )

Is it possible to get rustoleum mixed in original vw colours thinking specifically of pastel white, as im working on my van panel by panel as and when i get time and if i could get a decent match would rather rustoleum it than spray tin it

Yes but it'll cost a fair bit having it mixed. I know some have done it - Rustoleum may be able to advise of a stockist who can do this or they may be able to assist you to match it. Most people however go for a close match from the chart, making it easier to order and touch up in the future if needed.
