LEZ - London Emission - Suburu conversion

Post by ally »

Hey

Just did a quick search on the Forum but my Van is non compliant. However if I search for a REG from a 1995 Subaru legacy likened to where my engine is from it says it's compliant.

Also the weight of my van is lighter.

Any ideas what to do.. I'm basically stuck on the driveway.. no way I'm paying £100 to drive!

Cheers

Ally

Surely a Subaru Legacy is a car and a van is a van. You want to tell them now that your van is a car as it has a car engine in? Have you got your van registered with the DVLA correctly?
You have had a couple of years to sort it out but wait until the start of the latest regs to think about it.

Not only does the LEZ only apply to commercial vehicles, but it only applies to diesels - Subaru didn't do any diesels that far back.

Huh?
What is that in English?
Van or motor caravan?
Diesel or petrol?
What engine on regn. documents?

As long as it is registered as a petrol powered vehicle.

Clearly the DVLA records for your van have not been updated.....if you have had a Subaru conversion these details should have been updated via your V5 registration document.

You will need to check and complete section 7. on your current V5 giving cylinder capacity and type of fuel; then send it to Swansea and wait until the new V5 arrives before you can use your van......I am presuming your Subaru conversion is Petrol not Diesel.

The LEZ only applies to commercial vehicles or other listed specialist vehicles and it only applies to diesel engines.....so if your van is petrol you are ok - but only if your V5 details are correct - otherwise the fine will still apply.

Do not drive it until you have sorted the paperwork and checked the reg no on the TFL website.....it is your fault not theirs that the V5 is incorrect!!
