Yes, interesting to ponder why, BEA set those conditions. Could well be life cycles, expired life, or BA lawyers feel they just might be in the firing line if anything went wrong, having been responsible for its flight hours and maintenance since new.

Wonder what the true scrap metal price would be...?
Even knowing what aeronautical prices can be, £M 1.25 still sounds a lot

Concorde scene tax?

There's only 5.5 tonnes of scrap there, half of it is steel averaging at £180/tonne for plate/girder; aluminium now at £800-1000/tonne. Ti alloys for the rotor and stator blades, hard to find a price online but there can't be half a ton there all told?
