Al Fresco workshop .. not so good in winter

Image
Adaptor plate(s) , My friend who works on V8 landrovers dosnt recognise the alloy part so I guess it is an adaptor for something else ??

Image
And from the other side , this is it finished. Steel adaptor picks up all 12 bolts on alloy adaptor plus 8 through cut down VW bell housing.

Image
New gearbox mounting .

Image
VW spigot bush intalled in brass bush in Rover crankshaft
The engine has also had a new crank oil seal fitted now + new rocker box gaskets and inlet/valley gasket to try and reduce oil leaks .Just like a vw then
Engine wiring looms have been stripped and unnecessay wiring removed and oil pressure, water temp and D+ wires put in and loomed up againto keep it as tidy as possible.
Now working on the wiring in the engine bay....

15 to 20 mpg hopefully.
These engines are meant to respond well to LPG conversion but backfires through intake cook the maf sensor - expensive !
Injectors from 4.2 or 4.6 are said to be an easy way to get an extra 2mpg.
Gearing up to suit the engine will help.
But with limited mileage planned mods for economy could cost alot more than they save

Stu had the V8 and all related gear from it a couple of years ago, the hightop went elsewhere and the rest was split/scrapped. :D

I think the engine is in his 'velle?

The engine cage / raised floor is bolted and tiger sealed in .
The 4 bolts mainly acted to locate it during construction and to clamp it down while the tiger seal went off.
With about 7 metres of box section bonded to the original floor is not intended to be removed, but would come out if it realy had too.
I am hoping to have it on the road by the end of this month, giving a bit of shake down time before we go to Camper Jam .

We shall have to see, awaiting report from Mechanic on engine then I guess its just down to availability of any parts it needs.

Quick fabrication of new exhaust the she is back on the road and I want to take it to a few shows to try and sell her, so will be good to meet people from Forum etc.

If not this one then defo another event.

Just thought I'd chip in! Rover V8 with a 14CUX injection system? Magic stuff to install on an earlier carbed car (P6B taht I put a 5 speed in after the Auto went pop) as you only need about 4 wires to make it run, or is that for the earlier 4CU system :? I've got a bit of modified 3.9 injection gear knocking about here if you need anything, left over from my aborted supercharged project...
How much are you spending on a superbeefy gearbox then? 300+ Nm is going to turn the mainshaft into a barber's pole, surely?

I've got Nigel's number if anyone wants it. I know he did a conversion plate for 5 cylinder Audi - didn't know about Rover etc though.
