Ahu dip stick

Hi all ,I have a golf AHU 1.9 td in the back of my doka that I have had for about 5 months .
went to check the oil pulled out the stick and the welded end as dropped of. After I have retrieved
the piece that broke of do I have to weld it back on ,or is there a mod. Where you don’t need to.
