Oil in turbo and exhaust

Post by clone123 »

Hi guys ever come across this I done a conversion a few years back with a 1y engine and used all JX parts had an oil leak on the turbo so replace all seals thinking I'd solve the problem but I hadn't since then I've been driving it with the oil leak now it's time to try and sort the problem out again I was just wondering if anyone has come across this problem I've been reading on all forums and somebody had the same problem with the AA Z engine with all the JX parts and said they replaced the turdo thinking that to be the problem but it turned out to be the turbo return pipe was to narrow not allowing the oil to return back quick enough and causing too much pressure in the turbo and blowing it out of the exhaust seal could this be the case with my conversion any body else had this problem.

Ok thanks for that you have just confirmed it for me that it not the return pipe as it is adequate to do the job with the 1y engine.

No I don't think that's right at all. Should be metal and I don't think it should have that large bend in it. I would think that would drain property. I could hopefully take a pic of mine later

This was on my original 1.6 TD jx engine when I got the van all I have done is transferred it over when I put the 1Y engine in I don't want to use the brickwerks one has somebody had a problem with it on the brickwerks forum saying it was too narrow and it wasn't letting IT return quick enough so he was getting the same problem I get now with oil coming out of Turbo

I very much doubt that the brickwerks one has any faults.. Simon won't sell stuff that he wouldnt use on his bus.

Whatever you have on there is NOT right and will not be allowing the turbo to drain. Prolly knackering your seals as well with excess pressure.

I'm a bit biased as I'm a mod on the Brickyard, and Simon is a mate...

But i'd ditch yours for his in a heartbeat, and I've been fooling around with IDI diesels for years.

I had a bit of an idea you are his mate of i dont even no him and you right I will be ditching mine I thought it was an original one because it was on the van when I got it and it's my first t25 this is why I asked the question on here after reading that and I must say I haven't read any more bad things about the return pipe from brickwerks only that one

Chap, even if I do know him, you know yourself that pipe isn't right. One dubious post on one forum doesn't make it true..

Browse this one and garner the general consensus about Brickwerks.

I do however know my way round a 1Y (and turbo'd 1Y, AAZ, KY, AEF etc.. etc...)

FWIW, thats not an original pipe. It's been remade to the wrong length, hence the U-bend, which may or may not be causing a retestriction. The SAE hose markings also identify it as non-VAG in origin.
