Leak-off pipes...

Post by dekhelia »

Got problems starting my AAZ. A whiff of EazyStart gets her going, but whenever I leave it for more than a few hours I get the same thing. Always starts eventually, but eventually isn't good. The leak-off pipes are pretty perished, especially at no.1 cyl, so replacing these is a priority. The current part seems a bit flimsy, what with it being just rubber with a cloth jacket: what have you guys used, as a longer term replacement? Be easy enough to buy the same thing again, but was just wondering id there's anything better? Thanks for any pointers

I have not done this on a T25, but had a similar issue on a Saab / Vauxhall motor. You can buy an upgraded biofuel resistant / longer lasting hose, GM did an upgrade. in my case i just needed to get the thing going and just replaced with some product I got from Halfords. It's essentially just vacuum hose. If there are plastic connectors I suggest you replace those too, in case they are cracked, or crack when you are replacing them.

Thanks for that..I do have a bit of an allergy to Halfords though. Especially that part where you get to the checkout and they say And that'll be just £19.95 sir... when all you've bought is a pack of jubilee clips or whatever. Anyway. The van does start, bless her...so I'll get some pipe off eBay or wherever. And we mourn the death of the high street,

6mm internal diameter - is that right?

Sorry for my spelling, I meant Halfrauds.

I don;t know what the VW pipe sizing is, try Brickwerks first, they sell good stuff

Halfords and euro car parts leak off pipes only tend to last me 18months before needing replacing. I've just swapped for some more expensive cohsine branded pipe which should last longer as it's 100% ethanol rated.

Also watch for the leak off end plug and always carry spare pipe n plugs.

I wouldn't be worried about a hose being 100% ethanol rated in a diesel engine, unless you are worried about mis fuelling :rollin 100% bio-diesel rated of course

A couple of links

https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/fuel-hose- ... 3-2mm.html check your size of course

https://www.cohpro.com/rubber-hose-and- ... -2110.html

Now you may notice that the second site is similar to the first..... it's Mr Baxters new line. Usual drill, email them if you have a question
