rev counter on new engine install not working

rev counter on new engine install not working

I have a 1987 T25 1.6 TD I have now replaced the engine with a AFN engine from a Audi 4 1.9 TD , but the rev counter is not working. its some think to do with the new engine being digital ? I believe and the old engine wasn't any idea what I need to do to get it working

The rev counter need the signal from the "w" terminal on the alternator on a diesel t25 , no matter what the engine is

and then it'll need calibrating as the TDi alternator won't be spinning at same speed as the TD one did
Alternative is to go with a SyncroSport dash which talks directly to the ecu
