To cheer myself up at the end of the day, I attacked a spare (early? aftermarket?) 4-cylinder air-conditioning compressor bracket, to make it clear #6 inlet runner.
Might need a little plating work and TIG welding but it looks ok to me.
I'll never find an Oetti one!ImageImageImage

The best that I have found for gluing silicone rubber part is good old superglue - but you must use an activator with it:

My tame mold toolmaker couldn't decide if the water seals are vulcanized natural rubber or synthetic. If the former, then they are compression molded (the flash line all the way round is the usual giveaway) so should bond by conventional means.
Whatever is good for O-ring cord should be ok for these too?

Borescoped the engine and its got MV pistons, so it is a 6N engine just like the engine hatch label states.
Why the casing has an S number I do not know. Maybe it was a simple slip-up at Oettinger? Maybe it was re-cased after a blow-up?
Either way, the temptation to up the CR with DJ pistons and have 200Nm+ always available is a strong one ;)Image

I have two sets of very good used ones in stock ;)
More confusion: the hatch label says 6N-katalysator, it has got one with a lambda probe (although the core has been knocked out) but the distributor is like a DJ with two vacuum pipes on the capsule :/

It has been modified to use what I think is a VR6 throttle body.

I'm looking forward to the case split and seeing the state of the camshaft...if it's toast it could be something of a problem. Fingers crossed for you that cam and crank are in good nick.
I'd be very tempted to put the DJ pistons in. Or you could always stroke it, shortened Chevy rods, custom pistons, supercharger... ;-)

I have been watching 338Marios build threads on youtube Ian. Hopefully, yours will end up like his.

Andrew: I think that 275Nm (peak) will be quite enough for the syncro transaxle!
I'm 95% confident that the crankshaft will be ok, they were forged and nitrided if the 2500 one is anything to go by.
If the cam is goosed, well I'll sort that out when the case is split. Easier to make a cam than the other major components..

Rob: I hardly use YouTube tbh. Got a link or do I just search for his name?

I love details like this.

Not so sure about the messages being sent by the cornflake packet gasket though...Image

Thanks again Rob, looks like there are a couple of details that I wasn't banking on (front camshaft bearing for one thing)
I also now know what the wbx6 aircon compressor bracket looks like, but I will probably stick with the modified wbx one.ImageImageImageImageImageImage
