Good news Patrick. Well done for persevering.
Mine is booked for Tuesday - let's hope we both sail through!

MOT test abandoned due to minor coolant leak. It’ll get booked in again soon.

That's a shame Patrick. But if that's all there is to find, it's pretty good.

Yes, thanks, mine passed OK despite my concerns about the, ever present, rear hub bearing play.

I'm three weeks into my DJ to ADY swap.
I fitted a catalyser to mine by choice.

Only issue so far is a niggly power loss going through 2200-2800 if I floor it.
Im working on that.

It’s legal!

If only I knew then what I know now - this is what I wrote 3rd April 2015
“And so its starts. What better way for a chap to spend 16 days while his wife is away.
This should be easy eh!
Step 1 = take DJ out
step 2 = take AGG out
step 3 = put AGG in
What could possibly go wrong?”

Thanks for the support, both in practical matters and friendly encouragement- couldn’t have done it without you.

Congratulations, Patrick.

Now that both your vehicle & meeting people are legal, you could pop over for a test run and a chat?

Ahh! OK Patrick.
I hadn't realised just how close we are to the Tier 2/3 boundary.
Keep safe & well.

Fascinating thread, such a lot of work, well done. If you change an engine for something out of another car does it need an engineers inspection or just a regular mot? Here, you need (should have) an engineers inspection. Clearly agg is an alternative vw engine but what does it stand for?
1991 ex telecom syncro. 2.1 engine replaced with a 1.9 at some time, has never run right since.

Regular MOT for safety checks.
Also a basic report from a garage saying “the engine has been swapped and the installation is sound” for DVLA to update their records.
Also tell your insurer.

AGG is a 2L NA petrol engine. Mine came from a Golf MK3 GTI.
