Re: Seat Belt Anchor Points
My rear 3 point seat belts share a central mounting point for the clip part. Van has passed it's MOT like that, and it's something they check, so my guess is yes.

Re: How do you jack up the vehicle ??
Thanks Itchy, that's really helpful. I did see those cross members but because of the gap I didn't want to jack up on just one of them. Bridging it with wood is a good idea. Anyhow, I went ahead and jacked up by the track control arm inward mounting point and put axle stands under the jacking points...

How do you jack up the vehicle ??
Hi Sorry for the simple question, I'm a beginner and still learning. Van passed its MOT but with several advisorys one of which was the front anti roll bar bushes. Procured bushes from GSF. Got my jack and axle stand and wheels chocks all ready. Started to jack vehicle up by jacking point, and then ...

Re: rejuvenate rubber mats
Another vote for Autoglym vinyl and rubber. Car detailers rave about that stuff. Back to black also works but leaves the matts very slippy.

Tip of the Day: Don't put Diesel into a Petrol engined van!
Our story begins with the P of pandkh, driving 600 miles to the French/German border to watch the Tour de France. Epic weekend, cycling was great, van was great, lovin' it. Quite thirsty these VW's though, think I stopped 3 times to fill up on the way down. My mate in the diesel T5 was laughing as h...

Re: Fuel Pump Gaskets - DG
Yeah I saw that it looked similar. I would have got one when I bought the rest but they were out of stock. Think I'll get some gasket paper and make my own. Beginner question. What type of grease do you pack the spacer with? I haven't got any grease so I'll need to get some. Aware that there are dif...

Re: Fuel Pump Gaskets - DG
Hi How did that work out for you.?? I've got an oil leak from the fuel pump, and before I whip it off, I want to get all the parts but as above, I can't find the top gasket for sale anywhere. I've ordered two of the lower ones instead. Anyone fitted the lower gasket on the top? Bought a new space an...

Re: More geabox woes - Can't engage 1 or R with engine running
Thanks everyone for the advice. I just finished bleeding the hydraulics and it seems to have sorted the problem. Nice firm clutch pedal and fingertip gear change.
Presumably I just keep an eye on it and if it happens again, suspect the slave cylinder?
Thanks again

More geabox woes - Can't engage 1 or R with engine running
Hi I Just got back from a 450 mile round trip where 100 miles in, I couldn't engage 1st or R whilst the engine is running. The other gears are difficult too, and there were times when I had to DDC every single gear change. Even when the change worked, it was difficult, requiring more pressure, and h...

Where is the gearbox filler plug?
Sorry, simple question I know. I want to check the oil level on the gearbox but I can't find the filler plug anywhere. 1.9 Petrol 5 speed. I've been scrabbling around under the van with a torch for an hour looking for it. I'm quite slim but it's very tight under there even for me. I had to get out t...

Gear change just got a bit crunchy
Hi From out of nowhere I've suddenly been finding it hard to change gear, particularly the low gears. Worse when the engine is running, which my old mechanic Larry told me meant that it was an indication of a clutch problem. I suspected that the clutch wasn't being operated enough. I wondered if the...

Re: Vacuum Hose, Where does the other end go?
Ha ha. I just changed my air filter for the first time and I replaced the vacuum hoses too. I have the same problem with that vacuum hose, it just disappears into the hole loose. I never thought it was supposed to fix onto something. I'll have to have a further look into that cubby hole. My cold idl...

Re: I just did my first oil change..
Don't worry I'm not about to start making unfettered adjustments to the carb setting. I just took it for a test drive and it looks like the fuel filter issue has resolved itself. Full with no air, and the power is back. Actually it's running really smoothly. It is in fact only the cold idle that's r...
