Re: Which recon enginewould you recommend
I am about to make the plunge with a recon engine - can anyone give some feedback about VEGE engines ... ? A VEGE would be a considerable saving on the Remtec ... but the saving is nothing if it is unreliable. It would be great to see a poll on the site so stats about recon engines could be gathered...

Re: T25 1.9 Watercooled engine
Here are 2 shots - my engine minus the air intake - and the code from the inlet manifold. I would be really interested to hear what I really have on my hands here. It looks like I am going to have to go down the route of a new engine because the water leak has turned out to be caused by an incompete...

Tx Mocki. Yeah will do at the weekend. The mechanic also has another manifold so will also get a photo of that. Cheers.

Re: T25 1.9 Watercooled engine
It has new heads on it... and the heads we specced were for a dg... this is pretty confusing. Lots of people lots of knowledge. Really specialist stuff. It is burning my head - I just have to work out the best route to get this vehicle running again with least damage to my pocket and the most reliab...

Re: T25 1.9 Watercooled engine
OK. The uncertainty of what I am dealing with here was starting to do my head in... so I got the Haynes manual out. For those peeps like me trying to locate the engine code it is here. http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc379/glass-hopper/wboxer-eng-no-location.jpg Can understand now why I could no...

Re: T25 1.9 Watercooled engine
Had a brief look for an engine number - it looks pretty gnarly in there - bit of oil and gunk sprayed about but no success. Have had a chat to the mechanic and we were certain we were working with a DG and all the paperwork I have indicates that is the case. I cannot check all my paper work cos unfo...

Re: T25 1.9 Watercooled engine
Might just keep it simple with a straight swap - once again looking down the economy route of things.
Save my money for a LPG conversion and help the environment and my pocket at the same time.
As soon as I know more I will post.
Thanks again Ian.

Re: T25 1.9 Watercooled engine
Interesting - my possibility of engines has just extended thanks to a link from Syncro spares.
I am looking at either a Vege, a Remtec or now - The Engine Shop.
The search for good reports about engines continues.

Re: T25 1.9 Watercooled engine
Hmm thanks for the info Ian. Looking at the pic... my DG looks more like the DF image posted earlier - which I guess means I have an earlier DG and incompatible water pipes. So maybe converting the van to a 2.1 is not an option. Hmmm. I will take a foto of my engine at the weekend and get the engine...

Re: T25 1.9 Watercooled engine
Due to current problems with my engine I have decided that my best plan of attack for long term trouble free motoring is to purchase a reconditioned engine. I am currently doing research and am trying to justify the costs of the new engine to the future running costs. It looks like lots of people ha...

Re: Which recon enginewould you recommend
I an thinking of purchasing a reconditioned engine after some recent trouble with my van. From this forum post I am definitely leaning towards a REMTEC. It is a bit more expensive - but I am looking for quality and reliability more than anything else. My van has had a Laurie Petit rebuild in the pas...

Re: Coolant Water Pipe Leak
NO chance of driving the van for the house move - and it is currently loaded - I have to get from Wiltshire to Brighton via Dorset.... hmmmph. Looking into hiring a van as a temporary measure. Thanks for the feedback Ian. I have been in touch with my mate who fitted the heads and will try to get the...
