I am about to make the plunge with a recon engine - can anyone give some feedback about VEGE engines ... ? A VEGE would be a considerable saving on the Remtec ... but the saving is nothing if it is unreliable. It would be great to see a poll on the site so stats about recon engines could be gathered...

Here are 2 shots - my engine minus the air intake - and the code from the inlet manifold. I would be really interested to hear what I really have on my hands here. It has new heads on it... and the heads we specced were for a dg... this is pretty confusing. Lots of people lots of knowledge. Really specialist stuff. Had a brief look for an engine number - it looks pretty gnarly in there - bit of oil and gunk sprayed about but no success. Might just keep it simple with a straight swap - once again looking down the economy route of things.
Save my money for a LPG conversion and help the environment and my pocket at the same time.

Interesting - my possibility of engines has just extended thanks to a link from Syncro spares.
I am looking at either a Vege, a Remtec or now - The Engine Shop.
The search for good reports about engines continues.

Hmm thanks for the info Ian. Looking at the pic... my DG looks more like the DF image posted earlier - which I guess means I have an earlier DG and incompatible water pipes. So maybe converting the van to a 2.1 is not an option. Hmmm. I will take a foto of my engine at the weekend and get the engine...
