Re: Name that expensive sounding noise
There is a lot of air in the bleed off pipe between injector 1 and 2 so air is definitely getting into fuel system....

amv 188 100.02. Oil squirters sealing paste.. Jx 1.6td
I'm currently undertaking a 1.6td jx rebuild and the vw manual says that "amv 188 100.02" is required for the piston oil squirters. Not much info on Google other than its £30 and a special order from germany.. On other forums people say to use loctite (I'm assuming its not thread lock as i...

Re: Not sure what this is - air intake pipe?
You have lost your blow off valve and obviously the clamp that holds it on.. Its purpose is to release any excess boost pressure the turbo creates to prevent engine damage. So now any boost the turbo creates is vented to the atmosphere so I imagine the performance will be dramatically decreased.

Just search for T3 or Vanagon
Slaughter house customs are also slowly releasing all their 3D print designs for free.

Re: 1.6 jx Td rebuild
So having removed the pistons. They have indeed been hit by the exhaust valves. I can only assume that previously cambelt has snapped and the head has been replaced.. As engine ran previously and head passed compression test...

Re: 1.6 jx Td rebuild
The pistons have indents as you refer to them in the Crown (top of the piston) to aid in mixing of the air and fuel.. Also the larger round marks are just carbon build up around the exhaust valves.. The Jx is an interference engine.. Which means that if the timing is out the valves will hit the pist...

Re: 1.6 jx Td rebuild
Well my spare block came back from the machine shop with the all clear as did the Head. So I'll just rebuild with fresh rings and turbo rebuild... Then swap out the current engine.. Not interested in TDI and a gearbox rebuild and not chasing bhp. I actually like the Jx as its a good reliable engine ...

Re: Oil cooler using mk1 golf gti filter housing
The turbo oil feed is from the top of the filter housing on the Jx Hence my question about T piece as one is needed for the turbo so its not as straight forward. As using one as feed and one as return to the cooler. Brickwerks confirm this is where the oil feed for turbo is. Its a generic pic of the...

Oil cooler using mk1 golf gti filter housing
I'm looking at fitting an oil cooler to my 1.6 td jx engine. I understand that one option is using a golf mk1 gti oil filter housing as this has two unions on top to feed an oil cooler. So was wondering how you would go about this as obviously the current jx one has only one for the turbo oil feed.....

Re: Oettinger 1.6 Td intercooler
Excuse the typo I ment BEHR. Not Beco in previous post as BEHR is clearly stamped into the Plastic.. But there is no part number so its not much use... So was asking if anyone else had part number or know what it was originally fitted to?
