Re: Historic MOT criteria

Stumbling block, looking at DVLA website under Vehicles exempt from vehicle tax states
If your vehicle was built before 1 January 1983, you can stop paying vehicle tax from 1 April 2023.

Is this out of date and should state before 1 January 1984 and change each year in 40 year incriments.

Re: Historic MOT criteria

Thanks, I also renew on line, I think using this process checks are made for insurance, current MOT etc before issuing Tax. Still trying to get my head around whole process. I am hoping getting the Tax exemption will automatically qualify for MOT exemption without filling in more forms.

Re: Historic MOT criteria

Thanks again, how does the MOT exemption work, any forms to fill in, seen a V12 but this seems to be only needed if you are retaxing and need proof of an MOT or exemption.

Re: Historic MOT criteria

Thanks, I may go to the post office to deal with it as unsure what date to make it taxed from. Maybe I just have to fill in para 1,2 and 3.

Re: Historic MOT criteria

Spoke to DVLA for more guidance, before I fill in any forms so as to get it right. They asked me what was the date of manufacture on the V5C, I explained there was only the date of registration on the form. Explained I had a Heritage letter from VW verifying manufacture date was earlier. Advised the...

Re: Historic MOT criteria

Thanks again, I wil wait for a few more days and then ask once more, worth the effort for the gains, although I have a few more months before I qualify I think.

Re: Oil consumption 1.9 DG

Have you checked for leaks, I have a persistant small leak from the nearside rocker cover, replaced gasket but still need to keep an eye on it as its still there.

Re: Historic MOT criteria

Thanks, that makes sense, is there a preferred or tried and tested site that provides this information. I have done more research and DVLA will not accept document proof from enthusiasts clubs etc.

Re: Historic MOT criteria

Resurrecting this post to see if I qualify yet. V5C states 1st registration Apr 1984, but looking at T3 manufacture dates website mine if I am reading the information correctly was built between 31 Oct 1983 and 30 Nov 1983. So wondering where I stand for tax and mot exemption and what action I can t...

Re: Anyone used their OEM jack successfully?

As mentioned above, ensure jack is soundly home in the jacking point and on solid ground, they tend to move and crunch on gravel. And of course emergency use, best to have another support like axle stands for prolonged repairs.
