Did the pump rebuild involve a new drive end bush/bearing?
The usual cause of the seal on the nose of the pump leaking is the fact the driveshaft is being pulled to one side by timing belt tension, premature wear on the bush and then the seal leaks.

Re: Jx injection pump alignment
More than likely the Bush in the nose of the pump is worn. Does the pulley look out of alignment to the pump body?
Remove the belt and give the pully a good tug about, see how much movement you have.

Re: upper wishbone bush spot welds
Just be careful welding those, I have no idea what they are coated with but it's nasty! The fumes from spot welding wishbone bushes has taken my breath away on more than one occasion, made my eyes stream and given me some weird sensation in my nose. Lemfoerer seem the worst for it, maybe it's the gr...

Re: M plate and date of manufacture
It's Flambeau Plastics now next to Tesco. The building at the port is still there but it's a shadow of it's former self, bit delapidated. I've got some pics and I keep meaning to write a page for the site. Some interesting info here. https://blog.heritagepartscentre.com/blog/2014/04/15/early-vws-cap...

Re: M plate and date of manufacture
...here they had to line up at the port and get shipped to Lowestoft in batches and then delivered to dealers so 3-4 months makes sense for date after build Not always Lowestoft, a lot came in through Ramsgate and propably other ports too. I've recently been on a bit of a nerdy reconnaissance missi...

Re: AAZ/ABL injector fuel lines
The trouble with AAZ engines is there are a few different sets, I got bored of trying to work out which had what!
Looks like you dropped lucky and got the right one!
I do have a good sample set here on an engine that I hope to send away and get re-made but that won't be till the end of the year.

Re: coolant pressurization pump / bleed kit
Not really required unless you like spending money on things you'll never use. A lot of garages don't even have cooling system pressure test stuff! http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/bleeding-the-cooling-system_topic29710.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Knock yourself ou...

Re: Brake pipes (again). Can you join new copper to old steel?
Steel is hard to flare, especially with DIY tools. You ideally need to strip the paint back then anneal the end of the pipe with a blow torch, this will usually ignite the brake fluid and will drip burning brake fluid to the floor or spit flames out of the end of the tube. I wouldn't use compression...

Re: PAS Steering Rack Bushes
Stop being a fanny and get it jacked up, on stands and the rack unbolted, you'll be surprised how much them move on the pipes. Worst bit is what condition your PAS pipes are in.. in fairness the front section is usually okay, it's toward the rear where they tend to go. Unbolt the rack and just push ...

Re: PAS Steering Rack Bushes
Yes, the heritage range is new. When we originally commisioned these I asked for them in black and they said it was possible but too much hassle as they had to basically stop production, clean everything, waste material just to swap the colour. I've jokingly been asking for this for years but in the...
