Re: Help me diagnose this coolant issue (please!!!)

"The hot water is not getting to the rad" very true. Fitted the lower temp thermostat and there was a slight improvement, at least not full scale on the guage. Next step I thought I would flush the system so I diconnected the hoses and put the garden hose up one clasping a rag round the jo...

Re: Help me diagnose this coolant issue (please!!!)

Spot on thanks. I did think about the water pump but usually they get noisy with a bad bearing or leak leak through the seal and it was a new pump 3 years ago. Will try the higher temp thermostat first.

Re: mechanical help please. Clutch problem abroad

Just a thought but there is, as far as I can remember, may be wrong, a short shaft between the slave cylinder and clutch actuator arm. Possibly the shaft has worn a hole in the actuator arm OR the little shft has "fell out" This would allow the slave cylinder to go full travel giving a har...

Re: Help me diagnose this coolant issue (please!!!)

I was then going to post when I saw this. On a long run last week I noticed the temperature rising way above normal, 1.9 D and I have a manual overide switch for the rad fan. Flicked it on and heard it running but it made no difference. Must be thermostat I thought. Turned the heater on full blast a...

Re: 1y pump number

Oh and yes the picture of the E Bay pump looks the same as mine (except the bent banjo pipe) as my engine was a 95 -96 caddy. But I would not like to say if thats the one though. Good luck mate.

Re: dipstick 1y

Yes,cut part of the KY tube but I honestly can,t remember why I did that. Is it that the KY tube is 6 or 7mm and the hole it goes in the 1Y is 8mm but the KY tube is swaged to an odd size so I cut it off and used the nylon tube insert 8mm nylon tube with a 7mm bore. Loads have been written on here a...

Re: dipstick 1y

4.5 Ltrs with a new filter and I had to use a bit of semi rigid nylon tube to make up the diameter of the KY dipstick to fit the 1Y and have had no problems. ( Can,t really remember now but I think I had to cut the end of the dipstick tube) ?

Re: Camping price hike (in some cases)!!!

What we need are club members with a bit of land who will charge a fiver a night from the four corners of the country. Pity I only have a very small semi  with a short driveway.

Re: Can I turn up and buy a ticket at Dunkirk or Calais

Yup, I have done this a couple of years ago. I got a return ferry with Norfolk line on a ten day return booking. Decided to return after eight days so I phoned them and they were very helpfull and it wasn,t a problem. Mind you we always take the night/early hours ferry when they are not so busy. In ...

Re: Camping price hike (in some cases)!!!

Yes some are getting greedy which is a shame. Went to a site in Cheddar last year and van me and missus no hookup £28 PER NIGHT ! Do the sums, space for 150 units at £28 a night = £4200 X 7 = £29,400 a week plus hookup. That is greedy and I will say that the site mid season was less than a third ful...
