Gearbox oil change

Good. No reason why gearboxes shouldn’t have their oil changed too right, work just as hard as engines. That gearbox oil is thick though, takes an age doesn’t it.

James Akers did a good write up on the procedure:

T25 Front Bench Seats

A warm welcome. Other models came with a double front passenger seat as standard. Uses same runner as a single seat. Adjoined seat hangs over unsupported, if you will. But there is a bulkhead fixing to support the backrest. Here is my singlecab front double as an example. https://uploads.tapatalk-cd...

Re: Coolant leaks from head gasket - mechanic needed

No rush.

Put £150 a month into an ISA and by the time it fails, you’ll have enough to buy an engine off Andrew @ Campershack.

They’re pretty robust these engines, I’d drive it until it lets go, personally. Top up the coolant once in a while obviously.

Speedo is 20mph fast. I can’t get my head around whether the speedo spring is too tight or too loose; any experience of this out there?

Logic suggests tighten the spring to add resistance.

Main beam issue

Blue LEDs had not been invented when you van was built. VW did use a white bulb with a blue cap on later models. https://brickwerks.co.uk/product/main-beam-tell-tale-bulb-t3-t4-caddy/ https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221028/16a3f659e8bbccfa36939789af6e1c66.jpg The Mk1 Golf had yellow LEDs, maybe e...

Re: How to make the brick fly?

Welcome. Good time for you to read the wiki, lots of buying tips and engine swap options in there. 2.1 is where you need to be, it’s a petrol. Easy upgrade swap from a 1.9. If you buy a diesel, the swap is golf AGG engine, but you’ll need an exhaust, wiring loom and shortened sump, more complex buil...

Metal water pipe 1.9df or dg? 025121081d

Simon Baxter wrote a good bleed instruction, see url below. But yes, I agree the bleed screw on the engine bay pipes is not very effective. Take the grill off the front and use the bleed screw in the radiator.

Brickwerks mudflaps

Nice solution [emoji1303] My kit did not come with the arch clamps, only the chassis bracket.

Brickwerks mudflaps

I think they are too heavy duty for the 2WD vans. I regretted drilling my old Velle to fit them. Welded up the holes later and went for the alternative mud flaps, which fit on the arches only. 251898010 251898011 https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221014/bffad1f2e6d3539f8a0b019ab1e58b0b.jpg https://...

Clock stopped, van fuse 15A. I think I short circuited the clock which shares its feed with cigarette lighter when I removed the stereo and inserted a stereo blank, 251857233. Anyway, clock ok now.

Re: 1.9 DG Bad Engine Tick

I’m wondering if the valves gaps need setting, under the rocker covers. Sounds more tippy-tappy rather than lower engine knocking of the rod, that’s all.

Re: battery being drained

It’s your stereo ;)

I jest but 90% of the time it’s this because this is what people ‘play with’ the most when it comes to electrics. Wire it to ignition live not permanent live, if it is.

But as Mocki said, with the bulb method & just pull those fuses one at a time.

Re: 1990 Singlecab II

Replaced clutch master, wasn’t that - no resistant on pedal still. Saw fluid coming out of clutch slave, so the piston seal in it had failed. It was a new ‘classic line’ item which lasted 18 months! Fitted new slave, fixed.
