Re: Stripping off
Ebay... 4” rubber wheel sticker/decal removal tool. Soft rubber wheel that fits in your drill. Seems like a strange concept but they actually work really well and need no solvent!

Re: Rear springs
Thanks for replies and offers. Even more strangely the heavy duty springs have disappeared this afternoon from the heritage website. I may ring them tomorrow and try the standard Suplex ones if the others are not available.

Re: Rear springs
Strangely Heritage have Meyle ‘heavy duty’ rear springs and Suplex standard. The standard are about £15 each more expensive. Yet the heavy duty Meyle fronts are more expensive. Anybody had any good or bad experience with either brands?

Rear springs
I’m in the process of overhauling the rear suspension on my Foster & Day coachbuilt. I’ve stripped it down ready to fit new trailing arm polybushes and Ian Holman’s disc kit. The near side always looked more of a sag than the offside and I can now see that someone has replaced just the offside s...

Re: Warped/bulging pop top
Brilliant! I’m a bit ashamed of myself for not spotting the obvious, having done the same myself previously. Guilty of overthinking and trying to be ‘clever’ maybe!

Re: Warped/bulging pop top
Personally I would suspect a combination of the hot weather and the restorer. GRP does expand and contract slightly with temp change. I would think that maybe the restorer soaked into the GRP and caused it to expand ,although only by a little, Anywhere else on the roof would be able to move freely, ...

Temple Cloud Garage, just south of Bristol on the A37. Paul is a long time VW man and knows them inside out.

Re: Wheel bearing welded to stub axel.
I had exactly the same thing happen to me in Brittany a couple of years ago. Had the ‘ride of Shame’ to a local Vw dealership where they had a big laugh and relied on an overnight delivery from uk for a new bearing. I was not prepared to risk the stub axle after all that heat, so I replaced it as so...

Re: Stupid offside mirror grrrrrrrrrr!!
I know this maybe controversial, but I’m going to say it anyway! I’ve no wish offend anyone and I realise that it’s ‘each to his own’. To me those Corrodo mirrors just look wrong. They are too small and too ‘rounded’. I appreciate that they are really well done but I don’t think they suit the angula...

Don’t do it all at the same time!! If you have a problem you’ll not know where to look first, I well remember my Dad’s advice on my first car -1965 1500 cortina, (well it was a long time ago!)

Temperamental starter or something else ?
I have a 2.1 DJ Auto Caravelle (1990) that I bought to use as a work horse for ferrying muddy boys after rugby etc. It was starting and running ok when left just before the end of last year. When I tried to move it about a month ago I guess the battery was a little flat but it turned over ok at firs...

Re: ReUpHolster Wall Carpet and Ceiling trim
Always best to use the high temp spray adhesive. The standard stuff will not withstand the high temperatures reached inside the van when closed up on a hot day. Also the high temp stuff has a lot better ‘body’ to it. None of the spray adhesives are any good with the plasticised vinyls as the flexibl...
