Re: Back to non-power steering

I didn't need to change my uprights when I changed from man to powered Ooh that's interesting. I thought that the power steering set up has different uprights. If it works one man to powered then it should work powered-man - in that case I just need a steering rack. I think I have two manual uprigh...

Back to non-power steering

Right, I want to ditch the power steering and go back to manual.

I need a shopping list:

1. Steering Rack with control arms and mounting bushes
2. Uprights - do I need different ones?
3. Is there anything else that I will need?

Re: Rear Trailing Arm 2 piece Poly bush

I personally don't think that there are any disadvantages. I've fitted them to my camper and can't tell the difference.between that and the Pritsche.

There are some that think that poly bushes on the rear are a bad idea - but I think they forget that they are driving a large van and not a race car.

They all do that sir.

You have to drive according to the temp gauge.

Re: Seam Sealant - When to apply

Have your ever used vactan on the same areas as owatrol? From what I read it looked like it was kind of one or the other, but without actually doing it and waiting a few years it's hard to know! You are correct, it's either one or the other. I have a cast iron sewing machine stand that I wire brush...

Re: Seam Sealant - When to apply

What owatrol did you use titus? The plain oil or the primer with the oil mixed in it? I've been using the plain oil anywhere there's a spot of rust i can see outside but I'm starting to prepare to rake out the seams and treat/reseal them. Re: Stuck in 3rd gear

Cheers Yeah I spoke to breaker via email and he said no Regarding the 5 speed would that mean I'd have to get the linkage separate for it? Obv if I cant find 4 speed it's something I'm going to have to look into, and whether the garage would be able to fit it Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk As...

You can use the 4 speed stick set to stir a 5 spd box, it's not pretty but it can be done.

Re: Stuck in 3rd gear

Have a look on ebay small ads in Germany (ebay Kleinanzeigen) - search for VW T3 4 gang getriebe.
You may get lucky and find a seller that will organise (or help organise) transport.

Re: Leisure battery

I use a starter battery.

If you go the same make sure that you don't totally flatten it.
I don't use much in the way of leccy - just LED lights, a propex and a bit of stereo.
If you're doing any convertering from 12 to 240 this is not the way for you.

not on a wbx lower two.are studs

the studs are needed to help align gearbox input shaft to clutch and if you used bolts you would risk damaging the threads in the engine

Ooops my bad!!

Re: Fitting whistle stops

If you mean the rubberised blades with four mounting points - they are mounted on the body to fill the gap between the door and the end of the front wing (if you can call it a wing). They are not a simple fit as the vans that they were fitted to had specific points on the body for the 2 of the self-...
