plastigauge the mains?

have you got the connectors/straps between the fuel lines installed??  They reduce the vibrations which wreck the pipes

Wrong tool -  - belt tension tool.

Apologies, I thought the tool was for tensioning the tensioner, not measuring the tension of the belt!

crowbar/prybar in through the inspection hole in the bell housing..

but you are relying on the belt to hold the cam/crank...

I've never had an issue doing it this way but if the cam/crank skips teeth then you will be in trouble.

An easily reversable option would be larger wheels. Either tyres, or rims and tyres. My speedo over reads by around 5%, so an increase tyre circumference of 5% will both correct the speedo and drop the revs 5%.  I'd agree with this..
