Re: JX crankshaft locking
Apologies, I thought the tool was for tensioning the tensioner, not measuring the tension of the belt!

I've never used a proper tensioning tool, I've got a pair of long nose pliers ground down to fit!

Re: JX crankshaft locking
crowbar/prybar in through the inspection hole in the bell housing..

I've never had an issue doing it this way but if the cam/crank skips teeth then you will be in trouble.

Principles of subrogation state that the insurer has to put you back in exactly the same position that you were one second before the “event” occurred. As well as normal insurance I wrote software that dealt with big stuff. Think oil rigs and football stadiums and huge container ships. I actually pu...

Re: Accident and Safe Prognosis
Just a note, but as the insured you are entitled to have your van fixed at the expense of the insurer whatever the cost. The insurers argue that it is not financially viable if it will cost more than what 'they' value it at but that is not the law. If you insist, they are obliged to pay. I say 'if ...

Re: Gearbox Advice For Taller Gearing Please?
An easily reversable option would be larger wheels. Either tyres, or rims and tyres. My speedo over reads by around 5%, so an increase tyre circumference of 5% will both correct the speedo and drop the revs 5%. I'd agree with this.. I spent a few months with a bus playing with gear ratios etc.. m...
