Re: Continued woes! - loss of power - possibly the clutch?

thanks Alex,

I've tried the thrashing method but it didnt really improve. it's now in the garage having a faulty cv joint fixed so i've asked them to have a look too. The clutch may be slipping a tad but i think the problems are a bit deeper than that sadly

Re: Sliding door jammed

thanks again. I'll have to try those suggestions when I get the van back from the mechanic. He's fixing a faulty CV joint! From how the door is behaving it seems like the most likely candidate is the spring. The door simply doesn't want to pop open and it's still when you pull it open manually. I th...

Re: Sliding door jammed

Thanks Cruz, very useful. I'll have to take it off and have a closer look at some point. my fear is getting it off, realising alls not well buggering it up then i'm stuck with a van that's parked on the street without a sliding door! it would really help me if someone has a photo of an early mechani...

Re: Continued woes! - loss of power - possibly the clutch?

well, I tried putting it into 3rd, hand brake on and slowly lifted my foot off the clutch. When the pedal was fully released the van did stall but it ran up to that point. Basically i dont really know if it's slipping or not. Cant be too shot though because it did reach the stalling point

Re: Sliding door jammed

I'll give that a go next time it's not hammering down.

Does everything on the catch look like it's in the right place though according to people who've seen them loads?!

Re: Continued woes! - loss of power - possibly the clutch?

You pull on the handbrake, put the van in third and gently release the clutch from standstill. If the clutch is ok the engine will stall, or if the handbrake is iffy you'll move forward. If the clutch is shot you'll be able to let the pedal fully up, the engine will keep running and you'll smell th...

Re: Sliding door jammed PICS ADDED

Hi all, photos added. Firstly, apologies for the dirt and rust getting in the way! Can anyone tell me if something looks amiss here? the door can be forced open at the rear but it's stiff. There isnt anything wrong with the sliding function once the door os forced open. Has the arm or larch come dis...

Re: T25 Roof

No probs. In my opinion the only way to go is to buy a second hand one. New kits are just so expensive but it depends on what you re after. Once you ve had a look around I'm sure you ll make the right choice!

Re: Continued woes! - loss of power - possibly the clutch?

thanks for the post hijack elmo BOXY, thanks for the reply. When you got the timing checked was it done with a strobe at idle and at +3000 RPM? It really needs to be right at both ends of the rev range. Have you got a vacuum advance dizzie and are the idle stab and ECU the right ones for the van? A ...

Sliding door jammed

Hi all. I have an early slidingdoor and it's decided to stop opening. I've taken the cover off and had a look at rhe mechanism. The problem seems to be that it has stopped popping the back of the door to slide it open. Tried wd40 and a little elbow grease but it's not shifting? Any initial ideas? Wi...

Re: T25 Roof

Try looking for second hand roofs. Westys are expensive unless very tatty. Can still get a devon pop top for a pretty reasonable price and they look pretty good. Try looking on ebay and contact breakers etc. Andyvan on here seems to have them for sale fairly regularly.

Continued woes! - loss of power - possibly the clutch?

Ok, i'll try to keep this as brief and concise as possible! This all started with a faulty idle stabilising unit on a trip to cornwall a few months ago. We finally diagnosed the problem (faulty idle stabilising unit) and got the van up and running, however it is quite significantly down on power. At...
