Thanks Aidan, as I don’t know how much was left in the box due to emptying it whilst on ramps I’m guessing that if it’s level I should let any excess drain out until level with or slightly under the fill hole. My slight concern is did I overfill by putting 3.5ltr in on top of whatever was left in it...

Don’t forget the new rubbers bungs in the top and use non perishable fuel hose for this connections as the cheap braided stuff rots in no time. I have an AGG with DT code 4 speed and 205 80 14c tyres. Runs at 70 around 3500 rpm handles well.

Grease in old locks and mechanisms can dry out and get non sticky. Coul try flushing with brake cleaner especially the spring Are near tgd hinge

I've decided to use the proper vw lower repair panel
