Re: Discount code for Santander ferry crossing ?

Somebody elsewhere's just mentioned that LD lines are doing £79 one-way from St Nazaire in Brittany to Gijon in northern Spain - might be a good budget option for heading to Spain without the long drive? http://ldlines.co.uk/timetables/saint-nazaire-gijon" onclick="window.open(this.href);...

Re: Discount code for Santander ferry crossing ?

Aye but I called them on the phone, same price as web then I gave em the code for discount. You need Dave's surname in case he's not passed it on. Jason, don't forget to tell people that Devon Dave books his van on the ferry as an MPV & not a camper. It may be possible to pass off a tin top as ...

Why Wolfsburg? VW Transporters are built at VWs Hannover factory. :)

Re: Ferry booked for France again

I've booked With LD Lines Portsmouth - Le Havre, out in March just before the schools Easter holidays & back just after they finish in early April. The cost was £187.00 which isn't bad for that crossing. The only viable alterative for me is the Newhaven - Dieppe crossing, the same mileage in Fra...

Re: Recommendations for new curtains

Of course, you will not have forgotten the fire retardant when making your home made curtains, will you Daffy? Erm, would you be surprised if I said yes??? I'm still resizing, so I'll look into getting a spray for the curtains near the cooking area. Thanks for the heads up and Happy New Year...

Re: Recommendations for new curtains

A word of caution: Whilst fleabay may seem like a 'cheap' alternative, pls don't bother. I made that mistake and I'm still using a mates sewing machine to resize the bloomin things :-(. On the plus side, I've realised that I could have made them myself in the first place - they're only differing si...

Re: Bastille day avoid France?

radman, Fete Nationale on 14th July is a great time to be in France. Loads of fireworks, public displays of all sorts going on. Another date to remember is Fete de la Musique on 21st June. Some villages celebrate this event on the nearest Saturday. Cahors in the Department of Lot is one of my favour...

Re: French Exploration!

So Patrick, you still havn't learned to avoid Rouen like the plague. :) I got back from France last Sunday after 3 weeks in the Limousin. I wasn't actually camping because for the most part I was staying at the newly aquired Chateau Bowt. On the way out I crossed the Seine using the Pont de Tancarvi...

Net curtains, AKA 'Mind your own business curtains'. :)

I bought silver (mirror) tint for the rear doors of my white van & then I later bought limo tint. I still haven't fitted either.

Re: France in 3 weeks!! TIPS PLEASE :D

Wullie lad, I agree that driving to the Pyrenees & back in only six days is too much as it's all driving & no relaxation. Regarding Oradour-sur-Glane, I think that everbody should visit the old village at least once. I went there in 1997 & I may possibly go back one more time if I happen...

Re: France in 3 weeks!! TIPS PLEASE :D

The routes are all interesting but I'm not sure that you comprehend the distances involved. You will be driving constantly with no time for a days rest. I would allow 14 days for a trip to the south west, then a trip through the Pyrenees & then the journey north. I wouldn't like to cram all that...

I'll be back in France sometime from the 14th - 28th October for 3 - 4 weeks. I'll be in Bourganeuf for the duration. I've got things to do.

Buy Carrefour Mousse Forestiere and Bleu Fondant cheese :pimp l'Eclerc for the best cheap 5 litre red wine, their Vieux something or other Merlot is really rather special. I bought 2 x 5 litres of the Vieux Carion brand red wine from l'Elclerc. The Gamay Cotes du Tarn is a bit on the grim side. I h...
