Hi all
I have body repairs to sort on my 82 2l air-cooled Westfalia high top.
Need to get some body cuts for the rear side window frames. Seen a few caravelle body cuts available, would these be suitable for a camper or do they have a different profile/shape?
Cheers
Myles

Re: Van won't start
Thanks for the replies chaps. Glad the van is running again. Going to have to get some rubber washers to isolate the pump from the chassis, it's so loud - sounds like noisy tappets!

Re: Van won't start
Hi again. Sorted it. The fuel line was dry so primed it first tried again and she fired up and now is running lovely. One question, if I leave the van parked up for a few weeks am I going to have to prime it again? Was hoping with this electric pump I wouldn't have to do that, got fed up of chucking...

Re: Van won't start
Hi all Bought a facet electric pump. Wired it up to take a live (fused) feed from the blue wire on the alternator. Turn the ignition key engine turns over but nothing from the pump. Put A meter on the blue wire and no voltage. Getting 12v at the 2 red wires but nothing from the blue. Any suggestions...

Re: Van won't start
Thanks for the reply.
Just the one filter, a little bit of crud in it so I fitted a new one, no difference.
The fuel cut off switches on the carbs are clicking off and on when activated. I guess that would suggest the original mechanical fuel pump is farked.

Van won't start
Hi All My 2l T25 Aircooled won't start. Haven't driven it for a couple of weeks so the fuel in the carb float chambers has evaporated. I've removed the air filter and poured some fuel down the carbs and normally after a couple of attempts it fires into life. This time it fires up and dies almost str...

Re: Crusty Window
Thanks MM, that was a great read. Very nice work. That level of fabrication is beyond my skill level so I think I'll op for a body cut.
Does anyone know of any VW breakers, particulary in the Cambridge/Suffolk/Essex area?

Crusty Window
Hi All I've decided to tackle the crustiest of my rear windows, please see pics below. My van is a rolling resto and as an amateur I am tackling the repairs myself. To date, I have repaired a jacking point and lower panel and things have gone well. I'm after advice regarding this repair. I assume th...

Re: T25 2L Aircooled, time for a new exhaust
Here you go, pics from a thread I posted almost 2 years ago. Unfortunately its not quite so shiny now, a lot of dust and some new oil leaks. Is it possible for the oil cooler to spring a leak? I changed the seals when I had the engine out. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3924/14404177179_9e72525e99_b...

Re: T25 2L Aircooled, time for a new exhaust
Indeed.
Ordinarily this van fights me every step of the way!
Might have had something to do with the fact I had the engine out a year or so ago to change seals and paint the tinware, I removed the exhaust first.

Re: Main beam won't stay on
Just to update. Removed the plug from the indicator/main beam stalk, checked with the meter to make sure I was getting 12v as and when required, which I was.
Expected to have to strip the switch but when I reconnected the plug all is now working. I guess it must've been a dirty contact.

Re: T25 2L Aircooled, time for a new exhaust
Hi all 20nm is the torque setting for the exhaust nuts, found it in Haynes. Exhaust now fitted, all gas tight ready for the MOT retest. Van doesn'the sound like a tractor anymore, which I miss. Loads more heat out of the front vents, too hot to touch at motorway speeds. Old nuts came off no problem ...

Thanks Sarran. Does anyone know the torque setting for the exchangers to block nuts. Don't want to sheer the studs off.

Exchangers and manifold gaskets ordered from Brickwerks, Ernst silencer and fitting kit ordered from JK.
Will let you know how it goes.
