Re: 2.1 DJ won't fire up after head rebuilds
Bentley manual doesn't make it clear it just shows conical spray pattern, but doesn't say if it pulses; I wouldn't be surprised if it was correct if continuous, when you start, there's a signal to ECU which says 'we are starting' and so ecu would throw fuel in, especially when coolant and air are co...

Re: 1.9tdi AHU not starting unless boost control valve unplugged
SyncroAndy diagnosed a fault (through careful logical testing) on Mark Williams TDi with it going into limp, associated with the boost valve which proved to be something to do with led reverse bulb, I think it was due to common earth and voltage/voltage drop, which meant that the ecu wasn't happy wi...

Re: Golf Mk4
The engine and loom are now fitted into a T3 and the new owner is very happy with it, so you'll have to find a breaker with another APK Golf that is being broken I'm afraid

Re: T25 front lower ball joint and top wish bone ball joint.
Monroe branded lower ball joints L2989 available from Autodoc fit just fine, only had them on 4 months so can't say how long they will last, but for the money they seem good value, boots looked thicker than some, I ordered TRW but they didn't actually have any stock of them, sent these instead, sinc...

Re: Loss of power and garage stumped by wiring
Talk to RJES re SSM he might be able to help. But that's the point of the simple flashing indicator system, no need for scanner, just connect the two plugs together and count the flashes and look the fault code up. Early, it's not very comprehensive, but as I am sure you know all the modern OBD stuf...

Re: Problem getting into gears 5 spd - Help identifying
Could be a linkage issue still, could be a clutch issue, could be lots of things. If you drop the gearbox oil and find lots of needle bearings on the drainplug magnet then the bearing under 1st gear has collapsed; if that's the case then you have big wear in the pinion bearing and pinion shaft is mo...

connector at dash maybe a bit loose/displaced or not fully supported, the tab the circuit board is wrapped around is often broken and the plug support piece often missing

usually corrosion issue at the sender end, be aware that disconnecting the sender can, if the corrosion is bad, result in broken connection, the two pins for the plug are hard wired to the sender and bent through 90' in the white plastic plug socket moulding. Because the externals are in the wheel a...

Re: Running rough after sitting for 3 months
don't try adjusting the valve clearances till it's had a proper run as if any lifters have drained down they need warmth and oil pressure to refill hence clattering when left and cold symptoms

Re: Loss of power and garage stumped by wiring
Have you checked for any fault codes, if SSM1 type diagnostics then it's flashing lamp code activated by connecting the read memory connectors together with ignition off and then switching ignition on and counting the flashes of the check engine lamp (or lamp in the wiring as some converters might n...
