The tech thread about this seems a bit heavy , but..... I have noticed that the water temp guage has also packed up. On a van of this miles I suspect the dash wiring is playing up. The nightime dash lights gave up years ago.
The hunt continues.

Oil pressure light and buzzer on!!
1989 1.7 diesel.
285000 on clock
but new engine 5 years ago.
The oil pressure light has suddenly come on with an awful buzzer. I have check for leaks and the oil level is ok.No sign of overheating. Could it be the pressure switch ?
Anybody had similiar probs?

OVERHEATING DIESEL
Changed my expansion tank about two weeks ago and I now get the red temp light flashing and guage going past central point. Checked water level, all ok. The main rad is stone cold, even after twenty minutes running. Think it needs bleeding. Trying to bleed it on a slope. Any tips. Have checked the W...

Gearbox-ouch!!
Looks like the box is finally going kaput! The girlfriend uses the pride and joy for work everyday and I'm blaming her diver's boots for it going. It's a 1.9 diesel with 5 speed box, circa '88. Its had a temperamental second gear for about two years which jumps out every now and again. We've managed ...

Rusty brake pipes
Have just failed MOT on "corroded brake pipe front to rear". I think it is a steel one. Where can I get a replacement? Can I replace it with copper? Is it a difficult job, or should I bite the bullet and stick it in a garage. I realise that getting the drums off to bleed the system is usua...

The starter on my 89 1.7 deisel has started playing up.It throws about a quarter turn then disengages. Its getting more and more frequent I've checked the connections and they're all sound. Does this sound liker a dodgy solenoid? Can it be replaced or do I go for a whole starter motor?

Won't start facing downhill
This sounds really stupid but my van won't start if it is left parked facing down hill. If I let it roll and level off, it evenually fires up. Any ideas folks?
Its an 89 1.7 diesel ftted 3000 miles ago ( good recon).

twin headlights(round ones)
Was tempted to fit a set of round twin headlights on my 88 van. It was originally a bog standard panel van. I have got the plastic twin grille, and also a pair of used headlights from another member last year. When I have offered the lights up, the inner headlight on the driver's side fouls on the b...
