As Aidan says. The firing order is 1.4.3.2.
So you start tdc number one, then you can either clockwise rotate 180 for number 4 etc or counter clock wise for 2 etc

Re: Identifying / replacing sliding windows
Oh interesting, I thought the only windows that differed factory wise were the SA big window vans.

Re: Identifying / replacing sliding windows
Aren't the apertures the same though for factory windows regardless of early or late? Maybe try vwheritage as well. I'm sure the jk windows are for all years? I was under the impression that embossed seal part was like an inner seal that was separate from the actual window seal. If its part of the m...

Re: I broke my T3! 0 compression
Sounds like when you reassembled you haven't sat the pushrods correctly. Also always turn it over by hand before trying to start so you know the pistons aren't gonna come into contact with valves, otherwise you're gonna have a bad time.

Re: Identifying / replacing sliding windows
Had a customer at the workshop order one from JK for a bay window, quality looked fine. Very different to see factory recessed panels with windows that stick out like that.. it almost looks like the window seals arent pulling the window in enough to make them sit right. I do prefer factory windows t...

Re: Rear Wiper Install
When I added one on mine I did a cardboard template of the wiper bracket and spindle location. Then offered it on the inner of the tailgate, with some frowning, questioning my choices and with the potential of screwing it up in the forefront of my head, I punched a point to drill from the outside us...

Re: Earth straps on a splity
IRS is Independent Rear Suspension, it replaces the old setup and reduction boxes for the wheels with a more modern setup, sometimes different gearbox too.

Re: Earth straps on a splity
It should have a strap from the gear box to chassis otherwise it will be a bugger to start yes. Being 6volt as well they will need good earths. Although is it stock or has it had any work done like IRS?

Re: Heavy Smoking after seal change
From my limited diesel knowledge.. sounds like you need to adjust the pump timing/delivery amount. Never done it myself the correct way but to do it the correct way you need a dial gauge etc to measure pump lift. The other way from being told by old timers is to loosen the pump bolts enough so you c...

This sounds daft but have you looked to see if there are any connectors that have fallen into the bodywork at the front?

Re: Fuse Board Buzzing
Check and clean the grounds on the crown above left of the fusebox. Ive had dodgy earths cause relays to freak out. Best thing to do is check all the cabling and make sure there are no loose connections. When you get the multimeter you can do all the usual checks to make sure the alternator isn't bo...
