Thanks. Trying to avoid second hand at the moment... Just to eliminate problems. All comes down to crazy labour costs...

Re: Rear brake pulsing
Hi Not sure about play, but I could hear and feel it. And mechanic and I test drove and he confirmed what i thought. Replaced shoes and drums. Twice... Only logical thing now is that face between the bearing housing and the suspension arm, as it was corroded. The main problem is that labour costs he...

Rear brake pulsing
Hi I have an odd problem, and wanted to get some advice. We had a rear bearing that needed replacing. Took it to local place after ordering the parts from brickwerks (so no random dodgy parts were used). These were replaced on both sides. When the brakes were tested after that (it is the law that ev...

Re: Flooring
We had a rubbish OSB floor, with cheap lino over the top. It was too high and covered part of the heater output: http://www.zoona.co.uk/files/JOY/old_floor.jpg When I ripped it up, the original floor was under it: http://www.zoona.co.uk/files/JOY/old_floor_removed.jpg I bought some carpet, and very ...

Re: Where to mount an eber in an Aircooled
At the risk of sounding like a massive twat... I never look at the price of petrol.
If the car/van needs filling, it gets filled. If I need to look at the price of petrol, I need to get rid of some cars...

Re: Where to mount an eber in an Aircooled
Wow, didn't realise they use that much.
We use it in the winter here too, but only for weekends - so only a couple of nights at a time.
I also don't trust knock off systems, do went with webasto which gave me the petrol option.
Thanks for info.

Re: Where to mount an eber in an Aircooled
Is there a reason people are not taking a feed from the main fuel tank? If you are fitting a Diesel heater and have a petrol engine you can't. And you can run the Diesel heater on cheaper Red Diesel or Kerosene home heating oil @ around 60p per litre. Ah, ok. I have petrol so bought a petrol heat...

Re: Where to mount an eber in an Aircooled
A bit late to this one...
But we fitted a new webasto in the original underslung box, and used all the original air vents so no cutting "pooh" up.
It all worked very well, and the only clue that it isn't the original heater is the control panel inside. And that it works.

Re: Pop rivets
I haven't, but only because i didn't know they existed... Just didn't the last half an hour watching videos about them. There are even rivnut versions as well. I live rivnuts. Fnarr. Definitely looking for one now. It seems there is a wide array of qualities though... Decent quality one (rivnut vers...

Re: Tailgate glass frustrations
I did this a couple of weeks ago with a brickwerks seal. But it was on the plastic double glazed rear window, so possibly not the same. I almost managed it by myself with (tailgate in the van) but in the end my landlord (long time vw owner and his professional bodywork specialist) came round and did...

Re: SP vs DG
It's basically a DG with maybe some emission (hydrocarbon) controls on it, uses the same heads and same cams, same carbs, same electronics, only built between 1986 and 1989 and only just over 4000 built; you can treat it as being a DG; from the parts catalogue it is hard to see how it is de-rated b...

I've seen pages like this, but wanted to understand the differences mechanically, so I don't but the wrong parts...
