It would seem to have twice the footprint of the average driver away and I can't see it packing up any smaller.

Re: New interior ideas wanted

I agree with the weight factor.
I did mine in 6mm birch ply and finished the edge's with another strip of 6mm so it looked heavy. Worktops are 10mm again doubled up on the edges.
If you design it well it can be incredibly strong.
All shelfs are glued in for regidity.

Re: 6volt doubled up more amps?

Yes you have missed something
2 12 volt 80 Amp batts wired in parallel gives 12 volts at 160 amp
2 6 volt 200 amp wired in series give 12 volt at 200 amp

Re: Gas soldering iron recommendation or should i crimp

There will always be those who prefer soldering and those who prefer crimping, you have to make your own choice. I solder circuit boards and crimp wiring looms. I agree with you. I worked in the aerospace industry for years and all cables are crimped, and before I hear the silly argument about not ...

Re: Gas soldering iron recommendation or should i crimp

No current car manufacturers solder wires  I wish that I had saved the corroded terminals from my alternator on the van and battery terminals from my boat - CRIMPS ARE CARP in hostile environments. When a crimper makes joints that don't allow moisture to wick up inside I will be long in my gr...

Re: Crimpers

At work (defence contract) we have certain joints that we must crimp not solder, this is due to solder wicking up the wire strands and making the joint prone to cracking when flexed. We have a standard we must adhere to and crimp tools are calibrated annually, we also check them every 6 months with...

Re: Crimpers

That is a nonsensical argument - if you can be shown how to crimp properly you can be shown how to solder correctly. Have you seen poor crimping. :D It's the argument put forward to apprentices in the airspace industry when you are taught. You can inspect crimps easy but it's not so easy to inspect...

Re: Crimpers

Reliability Anybody can be shown how to crimp properly but have you seen poor soldering. A good crimp needs the barrel to be full so the correct size of crimp is required . then the correct tool need to be used. This is a good crimp for automotive use https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/replacing-a-c...
