can Vactan be thinned?

Any one know if vactan can be let down with anything for extra seeping ability?
I know its fairly thin to start off with but it would be great to just pour in to some areas and let gravity do its thing.

Rear crossmember/ valance

Why do we have so many holes, cutouts and shapes at the back of the van. I was standing back and admireing/ cringing at my repairs and it struck me all those holes look very purposeful, but all they seem to do in effect is collect clag inside. why the little dimple on each corner, whats the tab for ...

Re: Fridge Panel Repair

Whats the state of the original tall panel you cut out, was it not salvageable? The tall aftermarket ones are crap as far as I'm concerned, so don't go cutting your good lower bit. If you have to use the tall one I'd either cut it short of the arch itself and join the two with a new lip as you sugge...

Re: Front wing and fuel filler repair panel

I believe these are considered the best non VW item. I've used the rears and can confirm they are loads better than the usual rubbish. https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/t3-parts/t3-body/t3-repair-panels/repair-panel-front-wheel-arch-t3-right-2wd.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: repro panels are crap

It seems like a bit of quality control is in order. A bit of reprofiling and being a bit sheetmetaly is one thing but I'd expect them to be offered up to a pattern as they're made. Its only when you offer up something original that the difference becomes stark. The good quality wheelarch repros show...

Re: repro panels are crap

Good, not just me then! I'm going to use whats left of it now and jigsaw it together with some of the old panel and some bits that were atatched to a boot floor cut. Very helpfully I found I'd got most of the vertical turret behind the rear light as well, complete with the pressed indent. I'm quite ...

Re: repro panels are crap

Yep Schofields. I don't want to run them down as they're a nice bunch when you call in, and very helpfull. But at £25 for a small panel I'd expect it to be as good as possible to make. Its obviously a lasercut blank and has a bit of a curve along the bottom edge, but I think I'd have preferred the b...

Re: repro panels are crap

Panel is just the very bottom bit, not hard to get right if your set up for it. Not J.K. a well known specialist not far from me. Nice guys, but I hate it when I've bothered paying for something to save time and it ends up taking more. I don't expect perfection, but when its something made in bulk f...

repro panels are crap

I bought a rear corner repair panel off a well known camper parts retailer, the bit above the seam line. I would have made one but need to get it done in a hurry. The panel looked well made if a bit flat. I spent about five hours yesterday trying to get a reasonable fit, nothing perfect, just meetin...

"wow, I'd have knocked him out rather than knock on his door, but thats probably the Glasgow side of me talking " He's in his 80s and the sole carer for his wife who is pretty much completely reliant on him after a serious stroke, plus I've got three young kids who need me not in ...

Re: Getting to grips with a rotten roof (Pic heavy)

Please, please don't mention neighbours. Friday, elderly nutso neighbour parked his car across the narrow lane where we live to get someone to call the police so he could complain to them about my van. When it didn't work out he started ranting and raving. When I ignored that, he started grabbing ha...

Excelent work there.Outdoors and in a timescale that puts most of us to shame.
It just shows what can be acheived if you set your mind to it. When I see vans being scrapped, described as beyond repair for a few rusty seams, it makes me wonder why they bought the things in the first place.

Re: Getting to grips with a rotten roof (Pic heavy)

Wire wheel wont do any damage and is good at removing paint. Sandpaper is good at highlighting the spots through the paint.
I have an almost completely worn out wire wheel that is reserved for sealant removal.
