Re: Advice on fitting NLA cab hammock please
Yep that was pretty much my take when fitting, low and taught. The other thing was thinking I needed the front and rear brackets level. In practice there's a bit of leeway as long as the rails fit in all the brackets, the steering wheel doesn't poke onto the canvas and theres sufficient headroom. Ou...

Re: Advice on fitting NLA cab hammock please
Just checked some old photos and I installed the bracket about an inch lower than the grab handle. I remember spending ages trying to work it out and ultimately as long as the fronts are level and the rears are level the hammock (or user) finds its natural curve. My seat headrests got in the way whi...

Re: Big white exhaust cloud
I had a pretty good chat with AW Engineering in Darwin Lancs late last year. I was looking for a cylinder head for an ecodiesel (long story) but also asked him about his rebuilt engines. Maybe an option would be to get an engine delivered to your man to swap over and send the old one back as it redu...

Selector Shaft Seal leaking
I have this feature at the moment, I've read a few instructions on how to do this (through the reverse light switch) but none really detail how easy it is to make a complete balls up of the job...I'm thinking no gear selection. Anyone got any idea before I either attempt it or stick it in the garage...

Re: Gas soldering iron
I've recently picked up an iroda solderpro from Maplin. Not used as yet other than to fill up and test burn. Seems alright and with a much reduced price tag. I have a similar job to do, would you be using solder slugs/pellets? I'm struggling as to where I can get them in small quantities. Sent from ...

Re: Quality pop top canvas for Westfalia?
I just had a new canvas made up for my viking roof by kingswood canvas in Bristol. Spoke to the guys for rough price, sent the old canvas off as a template and got a very nice new, lighter canvas in return. Was also considerably cheaper than off the shelf options (not that there are many of these op...

Re: Insulation
I did my Caravelle last year, the original floor was beyond rescue and seemed to be holding water. Anyway, I bought this sound deadening https://www.deadening.co.uk/products/dodo-dead-mat-hex-roll" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Then bought some 7mm foil backed adhesive foam...

I'm the same, used ECP for loads of stuff. Recently took a battery back, they found it faulty and replaced with no hassle.

Re: Van lining and electrics
You can buy good carpet and adhesive from martrim in Sandbach, I think they could also do the carpeting. I just bought the stuff and did it myself which I found pretty easy. Electrics, depends what kind of split charger you have. If it's a simple one the wiki on this site covers most of the simple t...

I've been kinda thinking along the same lines as my pop top headlining needs attention. Is there any value in insulating when the bellows are fabric?
