Re: tyres probably a silly question
Hmmm, what's the sense of lowering a vehicle when you want to drive all terain tyres? I must be daft but I don't quite get it

Re: Dash Out
after having done the BMW brake booster mod on the doka, I will definitly do the same with the caravelle when I take the dash out.
It's also a good opportunity to apply some sound deadening /insulating material to the front of the car

Re: 7jx15 rims
I also have the Mercedes W126 (1980's S-Class) rims on the Doka (7J 15 ET25). Perfect fit with 215/75/15 ATs but should be used with the smaller radius nuts (M14 R12 instead of the VW M14 R14). Back then there were three manufacturers of these rims (Südrad, Lemmerz and Kronprinz). The Mercedes part ...

Re: new mud flaps available from ClassicParts
You are right goodie of course
At least it says "reproduced parts" so they should be back in stock sometime soon (unlike some batches of NOS parts they sometimes offer cheap and therefore are sold out within days)

Re: need help in West Wiltshire (exhaust)
Thanks for the assistance guys! I went to Pete's garage and he was able to weld the exhaust. He said it's temporary but it will probably outlast the rest of the exhaust system. Had a really nice chat with him also, great guy! I'm really happy to be in stealth mode again and the New Forest ponies see...

Re: need help in West Wiltshire (exhaust)
hey Dave, good to hear from you again! I just hope it can be fixed, even if it' s a temporary thing. But the bus is still driveable, it's just embarrisingly loud. I'm driving through the beautiful countryside and get more attention then I care for. I comfort myself with the fact that i only annoy th...

Re: need help in West Wiltshire (exhaust)
thanks Itchyfeet! just bang-banged into the Salisbury racetrack camping (my neighbors told me they expected a Harley to come around the corner) I will give the guys from Torque Technique a ring in the morning, I hope they can help. When the exhaust cooled of a little, I had a closer look: the tube c...

need help in West Wiltshire (exhaust)
hi guys, i have a few days to travel through England after a great Busfest before catching the ferry in Harwich next Saturday. I'm a few miles from Salisbury now (Warminster) and it looks like one of the exhaust manifold pipes has sheared of the car runs but it's really loud. is there any place i ca...

Re: Leisure battery chalenges
I'd advise installing a battry guard that terminates the power supply as soon as a cerain voltage threshold is reached. Good ones are not cheap but they cost less than a new leisure battery does

Re: check fuel hoses and buy fire extinguisher
might want to spend only a little more money and get a co2 fire extinguisher instead of a powder one. powder ones leave quite a mess in the vehicle that is very hard to get rid of (e.g. under the dashboard)

pity you're not flying to Hamburg Simon. Then we could take both my syncros to the meeting. Looks like I'm going alone and I can only take one with me (luxury problem I guess)
