Re: Van not starting - any ideas!

Have you checked you're getting a spark and there is fuel in the carb. Fuel in the tank doesn't mean it's getting to the carb.

Re: Using my gas cooker...

If you're going to get it gas safety checked just ask whoever does it to swap the regulator for you. Personally I've swapped my regulator a couple of times depending on what bottles I've got cheap over the last couple of years. I use an o-clip on the hose and leak check it after fitting with a squir...

Re: Battery charging !

if the label on the battery states Amp Hours (ah) AND Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) then it it suitable to be used for CRANKING I agree, but as the original question didn't give part numbers and technical specs. is it possible to jump start my van from my leisure battery on the van Saying "no"...

Re: Battery chsrging !

If your leisure battery is a really leisure battery then it's best not to as they're not designed for the high cranking loads a starter needs. If it's just a normal battery then no problem.

Re: Twin light grill - How much?

Well it looks like it is a cut & shut modification. I think that's the part number for a standard grill. http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b435/Hotel-BOXY/IMG_20160209_193824110_zps6lydsvr5.jpg It looks like someone has used the lamps and surrounds (maybe from a Mk1 Golf?) and blended them in ...

Re: Twin light grill - How much?

Too dark now. I'll have a look tomorrow when I finish picking up the pieces. I'll have a look to see if there's a p/no. moulded in anywhere.

Re: Twin light grill - How much?

That is a cut standard grille.

When you say a cut standard grill what do you mean? The inner lights have a moulded surround that the horizontal slats join on to. Here's a pre-bin lorry photo.

Twin light grill - How much?

Got home tonight and found the bin men had manage to reverse into my stationary camper :( At least they left a note with a number to call tomorrow. http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b435/Hotel-BOXY/20160208_165632_zpshyhoej8l.jpg Does anyone know where I can get a replacement grill like this one? ...

Re: computer help. PLEASE

Has you monitor got any buttons on the surround, or behind a pull down panel. If there's an "auto" button press that, or failing that try the "menu" button an look for the option to set the dimensions.

Re: Spark plug analysis

Also check all the plugs are firing. If a plug or HT lead isn't firing the un-burnt petrol will wash the carbon build up onto the plug and that could look like oil. I keep one of these in the van. Dead handy for making sure all the plugs are coming to the party without having to take the plugs out. ...

Re: 12v fault finding

The bottom fuse is for the interior lights so you've got a short to earth. You might have put a screw through a positive wire and trapped it against the van's body. Just check for continuity between the positive feeds and the van's body with everything switched off. If you get a 0 ohms reading on a ...

Re: Advance and retard vacuum tube

You can use any 4mm OD nylon tube for vacuum tube and short bits of silicon tube to join it at the ends. Try a model shop some RC nitro cars use that sort of tube for fuel lines. If your van's an Aircooled the vac line off the right hand connection on the air-box should connect to the valve on the a...
