Thanks Ewan, heads off and there's a crack in each cylinder between the valves - garage reckon this is causing the coolant compression but I guess I won't know without a compression test. Bit reluctant to throw good money after bad and am looking to source a replacement aaz head.

Re: Can faulty headgasket blow water pipes?
Yep - printed it off and followed it religously tho too much pressure to open cap once it's warmed up. Burst my second pipe last night, the joint between the long pipes leading to rad. Heater warms up and rad bled by bleed bolt. When I refilled after 1st pipe blew it only took 6 litres coolant, eith...

Re: Can faulty headgasket blow water pipes?
Thanks, AA man tested and said no combustion gases present but coolant was pressurised too much, I got some coolant leakage around the head gasket seal. How do I check for a blockage- hosepipe job?
Cheers

Can faulty headgasket blow water pipes?
Linked into my earlier post this morning, just topped it all up with coolant and took it for a test run - ran fine until the 3 way coolant hose from the pump - rad - oilcooler blew and emptied my nice new coolant all over the A41... Bugga. Some Q's: 1. I have a slight coolant leak from the head gask...

AAZ cylinder head torque settings
Hellooo, Got the head skimmed after a cambelt disaster about 6 months ago and I've now noticed a coolant leak from the head gasket after the flashing red light came warning of low coolant levels. I've tried Baxter's bleeding method but when the engine warms up it won't let me open the header cap wit...

What gearbox for an AAZ
Sorry - an old topic but going round in circles a bit.. I have an 1.9TD AAZ converted from a 1.7D and the 5 speed gearbox is on it's way out. A 5sp box code 3H from a 1.6TD has popped up - anyone know if this will fit and what the gearing will be like? If not suitable - what's the best 5 speed box t...

Bugger to get it out of 5th and now 4th is getting sticky - even worse if I come to a halt in one of those gears. There's also a knock from underneath the pedals on acceleration/decellleration - sounds as if a pedal has been allowed to spring back up by itself. This started roughly the same time so ...

Re: How are hi-tops secured?
Fyi just got back and the roof stayed on - I just left it in the end, it rattled over 60mph or with a strong sidewind, now to clean out the old sealant and squirt in something new.

Liking the ratchet strap idea. No idea what make roof, typical ice cream van - sloping front, slight drop at the rear, I'll check the rest of the roof out in the morning and make a call then.
