Re: Steering column gaitor/boot
it should be a push fit over the circular ring on the plate that is screwed onto the body, the holes in it allow access to the screws, you'll need to split the steering column to fit it properly, if you cut a slit then maybe you'll be able to fit a long thing cable tie around it and secure it to th...

Picked a new one up on eBay for about £65 from ac-interiors a few months back. Can’t see it there now but might be worth contacting them.

Re: 1982 Viking roof canvas refurb
A few pics to help. Original canvas riveted (and glued down) https://i.imgur.com/JfPtHio.jpg Battening along red lines plus one more along other length of roof. You need to remove one gas strut at a time to get off the side batons and place appropriate timber support in. https://i.imgur.com/eIYel1O....

Re: 1982 Viking roof canvas refurb
Easy enough in terms of what you do - all pretty obvious and it’s a case of taking the old one off and then reversing the process. Hot work under the canvas and a lot of removing of rivets. I suspect it would be much easier with a helping hand. I did it completely on my own when, occasionally, anoth...

Re: Considering a purchase from a friend??
Hi. Concur with all that has been said. Mine is currently being resprayed (just outside Bristol) and is going to cost north of 8k. It's been stripped out so ALL the rot can be seen and assessed and then had the rust cut out with new panels/fabrication done. We didn't have to do it but decided we wan...

Re: Rock and roll bed and seatbelts
Hi I have an Autosleeper too; I had 2x 3-point belts fitted in the rear, both coming from the near-side rear pillar. Autosleeper nearly always converted delivery vans so they needed strengthening plates in the pillar. The drivers side belt clips into a buckle in the middle of the seat then goes ove...

Re: Alternative to zig unit and number of connectors on leisure battery
Thanks. Having googled that I'd say that's exactly what it is. Could be useful with a 150w converter I guess, although may buy a new one now this one has gone manky after being left in a shed! Cheers Oldie.

Re: wheels?
Hello, Just received the 16 inches steels from brickwerks and fitted them 205/65. It has transformed the driving of the van, probably also because my previous 185/80 r14 were so old... Anyway, super happy about this purchase. BR Lionel Hi. Good to hear you're so pleased with them. Any chance you ha...

Re: Which steering wheel
Early T4. Not loads smaller but smaller. If you find one make sure that the rubber hasn’t come away from the internal metal ring and is moving around. Most typical at 10 and 2 o’clock. You can buy them on Ebay refurbed by a German company but you have to pay premium price. Fit straight on.

Managed to find some early T4 seats. Slight mod had been done by previous owner to get them to slide on original runners. Definite step up in comfort!

Thanks Mocki, hadn't considered this. Anyone out there using a VSR and solar panel in the same set up?

Re: Rock and roll bed and seatbelts
I have ordered and had made up a new bed from M1campers in Worksop. They will make the bed to your desired width and it comes with two 3 point belts that are attached to the bed itself. They will also make headrests. It's finished but haven't picked it up yet as my van is still at the bodyshop. No T...
