Re: Inclines

Hello, 125 psi is ok but not great. What petrol are you using?? (98RON, no alcohol) What is the ignition timing angle at tickover and at 3200 rpm??. (10 and 28°) How hot is the dipstick after a good run??  ( Touch test.. hot but not hurty) Do not worry about putting the throttle pedal to the floor.....

Re: Inclines

Hello,

A 2litre CU in good form produces about 70 bhp.

This should give adequate performance in all road conditions, with a top speed on the flat approaching 70mph

Check timing and compressions when hot.

Re: Hydraulic tappets and Run In 2.0 litre CU Type4

Hello and thank you for your kind words on my little videos...  New hydraulic tappets.... if you can get some oil in before fitting, then all well and good.  Here is a video on an initial start of a CT engine, also with hydraulic tappets, which shows initial settings. The motor will cla...

Re: Aftermarket heat exchangers

Hello,
No welding required.
Wiggle room is to help align the collars etc
The tinware (not the exhaust pipes) can be painted with Hammerite or similar.

Re: Aftermarket heat exchangers

Hello, 2 litre CU heat exchangers.... Here is a video that may be useful from 5:45 on c4i211jyX38 The gaps in the tinware will give you 'wiggle room' to get everything aligned. You can then crimp and exhaust mastic seal as required. Make sure you have all new gaskets, nuts bolts and probably exhaust...

Re: Solar panels only provide trickle charge

Hello, I have had flexy solar panels on my van for about 10 years. I find they last about 5 to 7 years. The test voltage comes up alright at 18 volts, but only 500 ma instead of between 8-10 amperes under load.  I changed the latest 1 by cutting the cables off the old panel and splicing in the new p...

Re: 123 ignition in 1.6 CT Transporter

Hello, Haha the same year van as me.... 8) Yes it is about time for you to change the ignition system. For me there are 2 good options. 1).      Fit a new Powerspark SVDA ignition with a new coil. Here:  https://youtu.be/WJPyPuJZkHU  and:   https://youtu.be/L6dfb7ELtSc 2).      Fit a points and cond...

Re: Cab wind deflectors

Hi, I'm happy with these from JK. Forget using the clips. I couldn't get them to secure. Used a dab of black silicone adhesive instead. https://www.justkampers.com/cab-wind-and-rain-deflectors-vw-t25-1979-1992.html I concur, I got mine from the Polish manufacturer, and glued them in with clear silic...

Re: 2.0 CU with Dell 36 - Very fumey!

Hello and thanks for your message. Well you have at least given a realistic assessment of your motor 🙄 I am currently in hospital awaiting a pretty big operation. So your problem will serve as a welcome distraction. Yes, your biggest problem is the lack of a crankcase breather. I would suggest that ...
