engine 'hesitating', on open road.Cutting out at low revs.

My 1991 2.1 injected petrol is losing power for a second or less at regular intervals while in 4th or 5th gear while on long trips on the open road.
I also find that its cutting out while waiting at traffic lights and at junctions. Any ideas as to the cause?

Starting problems.

My 1991 type 25 2.1 petrol injected wont start. After much cranking with the starter there is a slow chugging turnover of the engine for a few seconds but it cuts out again. I tried putting the boot down in case of flooding but this makes no difference either. Could it be dirt in the carb. or someth...

Re: V.W. Caddy engine replacement for 2.1 V.W.

The price of L.P.G. here in Ireland, though cheaper than petrol , is way above the price charged in the European mainland or the U.K.
Also I wonder if theres a fire/explosion danger in driving around with a big gas tank in the van.

V.W. Caddy engine replacement for 2.1 V.W.

Is it possible to replace a V.W. 2.1 watercooled engine, with a V.W. Caddy turbodiesel one. If so, would I get better m.p.g. than I do now from the 2.1 petrol?

Re: Fuel expansion tanks

Does anyone know where I can get replacement fuel expansion tanks. One of mine has cracked. We managed a temporary patch up but I would prefer it if I could get my hands on a new one.
