Brake nipple snapped!
Oh...dear...oh dear...oh dear.... :( Brake nipple snapped off (front disc, right side), totally and completly flush with the caliper :evil: I was suspicious of it....and hoped it would be ok...but nope...crumbled up into bits! Got most of the nipple out and there is some thread left in the caliper, ...

Right....sorted. I now will admit to showing my ignorance... But just in case this is of use to others, the problem was an ignition lead. On testing, one read poorly. Replacing that has solved the problem and had I the sense to work through this first then I wouldnt have needed to write this thread....

Thanks for that, Problem is taking it for a run pre-MOT....so guess lots of revving on driveway and book an MOT in Scotland or something :lol: Full service is next....I am really excited by this, I have owned the van for 18 years....and forgotten just how great they are....so time to really give it ...

YIPPEEEEEEEEEE Got a new starter motor, and its on and.....it fired up straight off! The van runs at last :D The hydraulic tappets are making horrid noise, but guess they will quieten down a bit soon!  Also - did you test for ground continuity? Also #2 - if you are feeling brave you can use a jumper lead as a temp connection between the battery and the starter motor (to replace the thick cable) - this would rule out a bad starter cable/connection.
