I'd still check the bolts/screws.

Exactly, it's all a bit ambiguous. It needs checking and a little bit of knowledge can be dangerous....

Re: Domestic Electrics NON VW.
Original switch with live/neutral. Can change to something more appropriate if necessary. https://i.imgur.com/93AGARp.jpeg That looks like a switched live circuit. No neutral involved. That's why one wire has black tape around it possibly. Mind you, having 2 red wires suggests something needs inves...

576-513 is rated at 14 volts. If you connect it to 230v it's going to have a very short lifetime... bout 0.02 seconds What happened to the legs on the neon lamp sitting on the package? Have a look at: https://uk.farnell.com/multicomp/mc08010000/neon-lamp-wire-ended-t1-1-4/dp/1139244?cjevent=147f501f...

Re: Water in oil sump.
OK mrhutch, you failed the comprehension test then as well as maxstu.pid. He, GavW, says that he doesn'ts have the skills to do it himself. It's going to take a bit more than a few spanners and a trolley jack. What's your agenda then? Apart from maxtu's naive attempt at a rebuild (do you remember th...

They look like they haven't been heat treated (hardened) correctly, or, if they're case hardened as well then not deep enough?

Re: R9 fuel hose inner lining blocking hose?
R9 isn't ethanol proof so thats your problem right there. Maybe not 100% ethanol proof, but good for E5 and E10? I've actually only had E5 in contact with this hose in the time its been installed. What should we be using for modern petrol if not SAEJ30R9? E5 or E10, its still got ethanol in it. S...

Re: 84 1.6D stripped head for injector
You could have ground the front off with an off hand grinder, it would take a while, just keep dipping it in water to keep it cool. Small taps are easy to do that way. A tap that size would be best done using a slitting wheel on a surface grinder.

Re: Historic MOT criteria
Is this out of date and should state before 1 January 1984 and change each year in 40 year incriments. As I believe, if manufactured before 01/01/1984, then it will be tax free from 01/04/2024. Just the website needs updating. PS Oldiebut goodie, I've found the DVLA really helpful in the recent pas...
