Grade A supplied ECU from a 2.5 manual plugged in and bingo! engine started and ran first go with no faults. I haven't driven it yet so I'm still not out of the woods yet.

PS - Does anyone have a legacy ignition barrel and immobiliser antenna for sale?

Has anybody got the pin I/O for the above subaru ECU, as fitted to 1999- 2000 legacys fitted with EJ2.5 SOHC engines or perhaps can tell me where I can get such a thing?

Andy had his electronics mounted inside the van in a neat little box on the passenger side above the rear lamp cluster. Be very careful with this set up, mine was done this way and the water got in through the loom entry hole and destroyed the ECU and this I'm finding out is an expensive business. ...

Just realised I left this open. The solution is to ditch the blue unit and fit a Bosch unit, they look identical apart from the colour but the Bosch unit is super quiet, so quiet that you can hardly hear it running.

I purchased the AICV off ebay, from an American parts dealer dealer, search for legacy AICV and one should pop up.

The AICV arrived and has been fitted, I took it for a spin and everything is sounding and running a lot better, no over revving during start up or whilst changing gear. I will reset ECU overnight and see how it goes. Please note that the over revving symptoms came back after I had taken the van for...

Reset ECU overnight and have taken new VSS for a test drive, the over revving symptoms are still there, however when I checked the ECU afterwards the fault light was clear, no VSS fault and no IACV fault... so what is the cause of the over revving?
