Aye I'm happy to whip the distributor out to do the job but I just thought it might make my life easier if I hadn't got to mess about getting No1 to tdc etc. I guess what I was asking was IS it possible with the distributor still fitted to the vehicle? If not I'm assuming from the previous reply tha...

I put my treasured golf gti in the garage over the winter and make the van take the strain as my daily driver!!! I fully waxoyled the underside last year and I'll do it again next year. I agree with all the other comments, they prefer to be used, mine always starts even when left for weeks but the t...

I've got a pair of the longer ones on the front doors and a pair of the shorter ones either side of the bed in the rear. I removed the door cards and used some short m5 bolts/nuts. Don't do what I did the first time and fit them too close to the front of the doors otherwise the glovebox wont open wh...

Ignition/steering lock question

After loosing the only key to my van at action I've had to butcher the steering lock/ignition assembly to get it mobile again.
I'm looking for a replacement on ebay but need to know if that assembly is the same for all years of van???

Cheers

Compression figures for a 2.0CU?

Hi all Following a high HC reading on my mot recently I thought I better check the compression while I was changing the plugs at the weekend. The readings I got were as follows: 1-115psi 2-115psi 3-110psi 4-115psi Now I was pretty pleased with these but wasn't sure exactly what figures to expect (I ...

Simon at brickwerks will be able to help you out with any longer bolts/studs/spacers: http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/ I'm guessing you have the same wheels as I fitted on my van: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/tobzman/Img_1037.jpg I used 10mm spacers all round to keep things even. I fitted long...

Lee If you would be able to post some decent pics on here or send them to me at ken_kaniff69dude@hotmail.com that would be greatly apprieciated. I trust you that it's in good order but secondhand tinware is one of those things that you really need to see to evaluate. If it all looks good we can star...

Well I guess that would be a start Lee, how much would you want for as many different parts as you're willing to part with??? Not too desparate yet as I reckon I can get another couple of years out of my current set but if the price was right. What sort of condition is it all in and could you post s...

Yes you can enlarge the wheel bolt holes yourself quite easily. I'm guessing you are going from 12mm to 14mm. I had heard horror stories of people breaking 14mm drill bits and having nasty catch-ups. I therefore used a step drill as seen in this link: http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=1...

Carpet sets

Hi All I'm desperately trying to think of the name of the company that's been at all the recent shows offering complete cab carpets for like £20 or something silly. Anyway they were at dubfreeze downstairs near the bar in the corner, what are they called?????? Alternatively did the caravelle ever ha...
