Gave the Carb a clean and added some fuel treatment to the petrol tank... appears to have done the trick... fingers crossed

Engine(1.9DG) starts but won't idle,if I press the gas the engine dips and more often than not it cuts out. Problem seemed to occur on the last trip I made in it. I'm not mechanically minded but I noticed a lead on end of which doesnt appear to be connected to anything, can anyone tell me what it is...
