Can anyone recommend a good garage in Bristol?

Hi I've just moved to Bristol and my van needs a bit of TLC. Can anyone recommend me a good garage in or near bristol? I have a 1.7 diesel hightop - 1988 if that makes any difference. Many thanks for any advice. P.S> By TLC I think I need a new accelerator cable as the pedal is not always returning ...

As a mechanical newbie the might seem an silly question. I'm currently on the road on a long Uk tour in my 1.7 diesel hightop (I know lucky me!). I had a full service before we left but now I'm thinking I need to top up the oil ( about halfway between the 2 marks on the dipstick when cold) what oil ...

Help broken exhaust emergency advice

I'm on an extended roadtrip currently near uffington in Oxford. My exhaust has sheared away where the pipe runs into the silencer ( the weld has come apart) very noisy ! I have some questions: can it be welded back together even if the pipe is a bit rusty? Of not how hard is it to replace the pipe -...

Re: Advice cutting a Fridge flue (exhaust) vent

That was the sort of thing I was thinking of - where did you get it from?

I'm not sure its the kind of thing I can just pick up at my builder yard is it?

Also, how did you seal it to the fridge (solid) exhaust pipe?

Thanks for the tip.

Re: Advice cutting a Fridge flue (exhaust) vent

Also - it I extent the pipes up - what could I use to seal the extension to the sawn down pipe? I guess it would need to be heat proof and gas proof

Advice cutting a Fridge flue (exhaust) vent

Hi there, Just got a Electrolux RM122 fridge (gas and 12v), i've got enough space behind and around the back of it to mean I can vent the large grills inside the van (i.e. above and below the front of the fridge). However, there's no getting round the fact I need to cut a hole in the side panel to v...

help fitting a bolt on swivel base plate

I've just bought a bolt on plate for my passenger seat - it was advertised as a 'simple nut and bolt job' on the website that I bought it from but I have a couple of questions. Hopefully someone has fitted a similar plate in the past and can help me (the place I bought it from is closed to day and I...

Re: Advice fitting a fridge where a heater once was

I've got a vent cut in the side of the van already, from the heater - its got a grill and had two silver tubes running to it (about 4 inch diametre - one air in, one venting out I guess) The thing I'm most worried about to be honest is connecting the gas to the fridge and wiring up the electrics pro...

Re: Diesel 1.7: Keeping her sweet?

Thanks for the help everyone - I decided to just get a garage to replace the plugs - now she starts first time every time.

Wish I'd done it at the beginning of winter!

Advice fitting a fridge where a heater once was

Hi everyone, I removed the gas heater in our van as we didn't use it - I want to fit a fridge in its place. There is a gas 'splitter' that runs from the bottle to our gas cooker and has a pipe that used to connect to the heater. There is also the 12V leisure battery and an 240 hook up. I want to fit...
