I've had a couple of customer's vans in with partial brake failure in the last couple of months - one was a recently fitted rear wheel cylinder that only showed up when the van had been stood and use wasn't keeping the system air free (although the van was almost out of fluid as well  , the o...

As Kev says, the heating system on Aircooled VWs is brilliant as long as it is exactly as it left the factory. Stick your head under the van and take us a couple of photos so we can see the damage. E-mail me if you like, I'm always happy to advise :)

Everyone and their dog has asked in the garage about the Yellow Syncro - it's a bit on the sheddy side and is a converted panel rather than a "proper" minibus. It's owned by the guy who runs the garage, and he (IIRC) had a bad bike accident a few years back that makes him less than approac...

Type 1 heads and Type 4 heads both have a different port arrangement to the WBX. If you want to put twin carbs on one, you'd have to get manifolds from CSP http://www.csp-shop.de/cgi-bin/shop2/shop_main.cgi?func=start&wkid=35464128531 and fit IDFs or DRLAs. The bay injection would be a faff in m...

I respect that :) I've done a bay window before, but that was a relative doddle. If I always did what "they" say I certainly wouldn't have done half the things I've done :D

Oh and if you ever drop the gearbox put M8 rivnuts in the slave cylinder mounting bracket instead

Have fun, Ian.

That's a good idea ;) They're not so bad when you get the hang of them.

Roof swaps are a mare. There's one going on on behalf of a customer in the bodyshop I use - his bay window had rotted all round the gutter.

I have to say, I agree with Mr Baxter on this one - fit a Reimo, it'll be a load easier.

This is what happens with veg oil, it is real nasty stuff, these pumps are not designed to run with such a high viscosity fuel, it puts alot pressure on rotor, camplate and driveshaft, its just a question of time untill something breaks. Veg oil also kills the seals as you have found out. If you do...

Here's an artistic diagram:

The blue ones are the solid cooling pipes, the red ones are the rubber heater pipes. I'm going to enter the picture for the turner prize :D

There's a hot climate radiator on ETKA as well - I doubt you'll get one now but try your local main dealer just in case. I reckon you'll be looking at a scary 3 figure sum for one though. Try your local Serck dealer if you want a higher efficiency rad - they'll recore your stock on to your spec if t...
