just a quick update. many thanks for all advice. after eliminating everything else it turned out to be the wiper motor (limiter switch) so I ordered a new wiper motor off ebay and fitted it last weekend- must admit to cheating a bit because didnt fancy taking whole dasboard out, and as I have one of...

thanks for that. checked again with voltmeter with wipers in mid position and wiper switch off. nothing on the green wire either at the switch end or back of relay/fuse box connection, or at wiper motor connection. But I discovered that that green wire becomes live when the switch is in the interval...

yes,checked with voltmeter and definetely got power on black/grey wire.I thought it was going to be an earth problem but checked just about everything and still cant find it

yes I checked both fuse 11 and fuse 17, both have power and are ok. Thats why I seem to be running out of things to check

many thanks , yes I have cleaned it up and it does look like its coming from the sump gasket. I just wasnt sure if it could be done in situ, after searching and reading other post on sumps etc I was doubtful because of the bolts mentioned into the clutch housing, thats what confused me...I,m a newby...

oil leak 1.9tdi m sump gasket
I have a 1.9 tdi crewcab which has developed an oil leak around the sump gasket just below the dispick. my question is , can I drop the sump to fit a new sump gasket with the engine in situ, or is it an engine out job. I have been reading through all the posts on this excellent forum but I,m unsure ...
