Epic restoration MB. Amazing amount of work and another van saved in the nick of time by the looks of it. Thanks for posting all those photos too - very helpful.

Re: MBCamper's Restoration
Good work MB. Very impressed with the roof repair - that seems to be a fault with Autosleeper conversions (I've got one too). Most would have given up on the van as soon as they found that much rust, but with a a good paint finish and sealing seams all round, this one should last for years. Look for...

Re: Engine overhaul
Jeff, you're a brave man. Doing the engine is bad enough, but putting parts in the oven...!
Keep posting the pictures, all good stuff so far.
Cheers,

Re: Rusty exhaust!
Thanks for the replies everyone. It has eased my concerns but it has piqued my curiosity. Why have such a thing in the first place? And since the rest of my exhaust looks solid, is my campervan always going to be just as noisy? I've never been around any other T25's.... I think (and I'm sure someon...

Re: Front to Rear Coolant Pipes - Plastic
Just to confirm alewing, my feed pipe also looks like yours. As others have said, the metal inserts work their way out over time - constant heating and cooling and vibration I guess. Eventually, I think they pop out altogether, allowing the hoses to work loose and coolant to leak out. As tencent say...

Re: Fuel Line sizes ?
It may have been my post in the Wiki - on my 1990 DG all the fuel lines in the engine bay are 5.5mm ID. The hoses I replaced were VAG and marked as that - I think they may have been the originals. The short hose from the tank outlet to the fuel filter is 7mm and from the filter to the hard plastic f...

Summer 2011
No reason for this folks - just looking back on a great summer in the van. Pic taken at Woolacombe, North Devon, in July. Had been sunny all day, good surf, burgers on, beer in fridge, sun going down - it's what it's all about... We did 450 miles on this trip, nothing leaked, split, exploded or fell...

Re: unleaded in diesel
Billy Have done the same thing, although was only the one tank full. Maybe transfer half from the Transit tank and top up with petrol a couple of times. Small amount of diesel didn't make any difference to my running in short-term. Oldjets See my post: Put diesel in my petrol tank - dont panic! Post...

Re: Replacing fuel lines
meehaja Not sure which van you have but the folowing info is correct for later vans with DG engine - ealier vans may be slightly different so double check if you can. Info used to be available in the online VAG Cat if you can find it, or even at your local VAG dealer. My local VW van parts guy is ve...

Re: Poptop Removal - Autosleeper
Hi I have this exact model (without the body kit though!) and it isn't obvious how Autosleepers stuck the roof on. If you are taking off the whole roof moulding and not just the pop top bit then you could start by removing the two light fittings up on the interior side rails and also the ZIG unit to...

Zebedee
What year is yours? I'm just about to change the small hoses that connect into the plastic bleed rail on my 1990 DG. If I remember correctly they are 7mm ID x 2.5mm wall. I've just ordered a couple of metres from VAG so should have some spare if you need it.

Re: I do not like the look of this :(
Thats an Autosleeper Trooper pop top isn't it? Same as mine - which no doubt has the same rust lurking underneath  Good old Autosleepers - they just drilled, cut, bent, and screwed into the bodywork with no painting or rustproofing at all. Amazed my roof has lasted this long to be honest. Weld...
